I am trying to understand how something happened.. or more to the point, if I need to keep looking for another issue.
I just had all the boards for a BK rebuilt. The damage suggested an issue on the special solenoids. So I went over everything on the pop bumper and the right and left kickers, Coils were good, diodes were good, switches tested fine. I reinstalled the board and everything was good until one of the upper PF Drop targets was triggered. That caused the game to reset. From that point forward, triggering any of the 6 drop targets on the upper playfield, would trigger every switch in it's row. But triggering any other switch in that row was fine. I did some more digging and checked every single diode on those two switch rows. I found one shorted diode on the lower left upper PF drop target. Replacing that obviously did not solve the issue, as it had popped the board again.
So how did that one shorted switch diode do that damage? Or is there yet another issue that I have not found, lurking and waiting to pop another chip?
