Williams, 1980When I run the self test for the speech board all the words from the 5T5002 rom are missing. I’ve gently pushed on the chip but see no change. How should I go about testing whether the chip itself is bad, the socket it’s in, or something else?
The 5T5002 contains words THE, WILL, YOU, I and part of AGAIN. Try swapping the 5T5002 with 5T5003. If those words are now present in selftest, then the ROM itself is good but there are continuity problems with socket or flatcable connector.
(With swapped ROMs, the words might be stuck together or cut in middle since the test program expects the words to begin and end at certain locations of ROM, but anyway you will be able to hear if the words are there)
