Quoted from ChrisHibler:

Start with the 9 pin connector that carries the should signals to the board. Fractured solder joints are almost always an issue.

Chris, which 9 pin connector? On the left or the right on the sound board? I have a similar issue with my Tri Zone.

Quoted from Toyguy:

The sound board diagnostic switch does nothing also?

04Barb - I don't mean to HiJack your thread but maybe I could add to it as we might have a similar issue.
When I press the test button I usually do get a sound. But again, it usually fades out or sometimes it will just continue forever.

In addition, when I do get intermittent sound during gameplay... It is usually the musical notes. No matter which setting I have selected.. it's always notes. My test button will play an actual sound.

My caps and chips are new. I too have reseated them but continue to have the same problem.

Just repinned the entire sound board. Same issues.
