Ive wanted Sword of Rage for some time now. I was originally in on an LE, but after the initial stream....I got a little worried and backed out. The game play looked brutal.

After playing the Pro on location....I loved it. Ive played the premium and found the upper flipper challenging....almost frustrating. I dont think I can go wrong either way....but welcome any input....thoughts.....ideas? Im torn between which one to order.

I own a premium, played the pro quite a bit. While there isnt a ton to do on the upper pf, and i was hesitant that the upper pf would get hazy, i absolutely love it. To me they feel like totally different games, and i personally like the pre better. Last chance multi, catapult multi, super jackpot shot up top during a multi, it just works for me. I actually think the pro seems like the harder more brutal version, but i love my pre and itll be with me when i die! (I say now)

Black Knight should have an upper, travesty they even made a version without it. The Pro is dead to me

I watched the updated stream with new software for the upper pf. Seems to give it more purpose....

My only bitch about the upper pf, no drawbridge

Yeah I haven't played it with newer code so the upper felt pretty 1 note then.
But I'd go pro anyway... I think it would be pretty hard to make up enough rules to make it worth the extra monies. For me it's diff'rent enough from the other BKs not to really need it.

The premium upper catapult lock is pretty cool, if I had the cash that would be the one to get.

#8 4 years ago

Having played both quite a bit, I much prefer the Premium. The ball lock on the upper PF adds a lot to the game. The new code has really made the Premium stand out.

If you like a more faster quicker BK get the pro. If you want more of a luxury BK with some more stop and go but cool upper PF get the premium.

I think the pro definitely adds contrast to its predecessors.

I'm a huge fan of the premium. I played both and really enjoyed both, but went with the premium. Such a good game! If price isn't an option, go premium but if you end up with the pro, you will be happy as well. Save some money for the new JP cause you will want that game too. I'm going premium on that as well! The sickness is real. There is no medicine to fix it and it keeps getting worse.

Does anyone know if the rules incorporate the upper pf for bk and bk2k multi ball?

Skipping JP2, and selling a kidney to fund Guns and Roses....

Based on the upgrade ratio, I’d say premium. 4 BKSoR pro owners upgraded or mentioned plans to upgrade to premium, with zero known cases of prem/LE’s going pro. 4:0

A question that is sure to get a downvote, but is a real one for me: I was really surprised how much I enjoyed playing this game at MGC and on location (premium > pro), but am concerned about resale value or ability to sell down the road. Thoughts? Or does that never factor into your pinball decisions?

#16 4 years ago

If you are worried about resale buy yours used or get a show machine.

Resale never factors into a nib purchase but does when I’m buying an older used machine.

I think that is a valid concern...but it doesn't worry me. Typically, I prefer trading over selling.... if possible. In the back of my mind, I do think about deflation a bit, but it's not a deterrent. This is my mindset...….You are going to lose money in this hobby. I just try to make sure its a few hundred...not a few thousand.....

Interesting.....I love the pro, but I do think that upper pf does add another level of difficulty. I'm looking at both pins...….that artwork sure looks good on that premium.

I posted the same question about 60 days ago here, if you're interested in more respones: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bksor-pro-or-premium-le

I still stand by Pro. Having played more of the game, the catapult/upper playfield detracts from the gameplay for me.

Totally agree. I much prefer trading as well. However, seems harder to find others to trade. Everybody is a seller these days. Anyhow, back to the discussion. Despite the naysayers, this game is a heck of a lot of fun. I think the upper playfield is worth it.

I adore my pro. I have only played a handful of games on a premium, but honestly the upper did nothing for me. I had a hard time hitting the catapult, so that was frustrating (play better!...that's on me), and there was nothing else satisfying to do up there. I found myself getting distracted by / obsessed with getting catapult multi going and not paying enough attention to the modes and the rest of the game.

Also, the ramp to backhand shield lock shot on the pro is now one of my all time favorite shot/combos. You can do that after draining from the upper on the prem, but it's not the same as from a buttery smooth ramp. Sooooo good.

I definitely admit I need more time on the premium, and I reserve the right to change my mind, but the pro has quickly become one of my favorite machines ever. Such an intense battle...pure adrenaline. I love everything about it.

I have only tested the Pro version but I think that the upper playfield is part of Black Knight identity.
Furthermore, catapult multiball seems cool.

Ok, watched streams today.....really weighed pros and cons.

I prefer the artwork on the premium and LE. The upper pf looks like fun, but damn its a hard shot to make. I could see myself becoming more frustrated.

I also have Bk2k, so ive got an upper pf....with the draw bridge....they will look great together!

The pro is brutal fun....and challenging in itself....just ordered a Pro!

Awesome...congrats! And the beauty with this hobby is that you are never "stuck". Enjoy that pro, and if someday down the road you feel the need to upgrade, you can do that fairly easily. I am in the middle of doing that with Deadpool right now. Love the pro, but found myself envious of the premium. Sold my pro to a friend, and am working on the funds to upgrade. Some games I end up completely content with the pro, some games not.

Bk is an awesome game. I liked munsters too. Bought both nib. You take a loss for sure, some more than others (munsters). If you look at pinside, they dont like pinball. They trash every new game to the point that you wonder if there is such a thing as a good pinball machine. I took a bath on munsters, a lot had to do with how bad pinside said the game was, i may take a bath on bk3 if i ever sell, but im having so much fun with it i dont care.

I’m pro-Pro. You’ll see a lot of whining about how there isn’t enough to do, but every time I play it on location I leave with a big smile. It’s a good pin.
