Black Knight multiball problem

Lately my Black Knight will occasionally fail to kick out the last ball during multiball. Even when I start with a 3-ball multiball and two of the balls drain, it still displays that there are 3 balls in play. Pushing the ball up for a moment and then allowing to roll back on the switch seems to reset it. I am thinking it is something other than the lowermost switch on the trough because even if that wasn’t,t closing properly it wouldn’t explain why the display shows three balls in play after two have drained. I am thinking this is some sort of a communication issue possibly on the interconnect. I appreciate any ideas you may have on what might be causing this. Thanks!

I would try reseating the switch input outputs and the driver board as well.

might want to change your post to BK2000

It’s a Black Knight, not BK2000

I will try reseating those. Thanks!

OK, sorry, you confused me there no interconnect.

I'll bet it is the 3rd switch in the upper trough. If it isn't registering with a single ball in the trough, the game thinks the ball is not there and will not try and eject it. It also will think the ball is still in play.

That switch is very tricky to adjust correctly. You can't make it push up on the ball too much or the weight of the ball can't push it down. This is especially true when there is only one ball in the trough. This is also aggravated when the last ball is rolling down the trough since it is rolling so slow.

Adjust it so it is gapped tightly and only moves the smallest amount possible when the ball moves on the switch.

Agreed on possible trouble with the trough switches, convert 'em to microswitch like Williams ended up doing back in the day (BKLE). A little tougher to find the ready-to-go microswitch trough plates, but you can pirate some off another game, or modify what you've already got.
