I am currently restoring a BK with the plan of using a hardtop since playfield in really bad shape. First, center sword inserts are super faded and all look yellow instead of red. I removed them and sanded off numbers to try to reinstall but the faded inserts seem to be etched where I can still see the number in the plastic after silk screen ink and clear coat on top are sanded off. I’ve tried dyeing inserts with no luck. Transparent acrylic paint “works” ok but just not original look and this makes me nervous about longevity. I know these inserts are not available and I’ve searched forum for ideas so sorry if this not new but…

1-what kind of plastic are inserts made of?

2- could I make a silicone mold and cast some from epoxy?

3- or just order some new nice starburst inserts and move on and not worry how they look or resale value?
