Just wanted to thank "practicalsteve" in El Cerrito for selling me his Black Knight. I barely had to clean it, and it polished and waxed up good. He's a good guy. I am really enjoying the machine. Examining these pics, it looks like I need to replace a few bulbs! -- didn't notice it in the day light. Also looks like I might want to grab some drop target decals from a good source.

Now, if only I can learn to make that AMAZING black knight topper...

Glad it went to a good home, enjoy it!

#9 11 years ago

Had no idea I'd enjoy the "feel" of it so much. Love the chrome coin box too. Something very Cylon going on here.

Didn't know he taunts you with "ha ha ha" if you fail on the Magna Save. That's genius.

BK was/is the Macintosh of Pinball... Don't care what any of these DMD pinheads say!!
: )
The 'code/logic' written in that software is brilliant for the day!

If you decide to make one, I can send you the files for the shield and stand.

Nice pickup!
Looks to be in very good condition. Definitely a fun pin.

#15 11 years ago

Mof,

Do you have colored LEDs in the inserts?

#16 11 years ago

I will answer on behalf of MOF since I just sold it, and was the one to put them in. There are CT frosted blue and green LEDS in the respective inserts, those inserts were a little faded after 30 yrs.

MOF...now we can talk some trades....

Files sent - post pics when done.

Need your e mail - pinside pm's don't support attachments.

#21 11 years ago

Files here for all. Free to use and enjoy, just don't start selling them please. stand.jpgstand.jpg toppershield.jpgtoppershield.jpg

I appreciate all the well-wishes on BK.

I am really enjoying the nostalgia and the CHROME coin box of this machine.

It's true that the drop targets have a good feel as well. Mine have no stickers on them. Is that normal?

MOF

#23 11 years ago

I dont know if its normal, but you can buy replacement drop target decals.

I reworked the drop decals, pm me for a copy of the file if you want to print your own.

#25 11 years ago

I'd love to learn to print them. Wondering what the best process is, also wondering if dropping mylar on top of each sticker would be a good idea for future-proofing the cleaning of them?

great game - best of luck

#27 11 years ago

Now my problem is that BK is kicking my A$$... Same thing happened with Taxi when I got it -- took me days of play to solve it and be able to get replays frequently.

Anyone have some killer tips for BK strategy?

thanks!

That's what makes it such a great game!

Practice! I got plenty in 1980, and plenty more recently. I like to keep the balls on the upper playfield as long as possible.

Right - that's how I play Grand Lizard... Just wondering when it's best to go for drops and when it's best to keep locking up the balls.

Keep clearing drop banks before they reset, and lock balls whenever possible.

FINALLY beat my BK: 1,150,000 (1,000,000 stock replay). Easily the toughest replay I've had to fight for in the 6 machines I've picked up.

Space Station, on the other hand -- I was able to beat within hours, and even racked up a 3,500,000 recently (stock replay at 1,900,000). Have had the game only a few days.

But -- BK, wow -- Brutal game! I almost want to put a "warning label" on it. Main reason I can't wait to pick up my Space Shuttle at PAGG. I think every game room needs that entry-level hack away pin. Space Shuttle is just a blast on the Farsight platform. Can't wait for the real thing.

Try BK2K!

#36 10 years ago

I think Black Knight has one of the most satisfying extra-ball shots. The light and sound show is amazing.

I hope there's one at PAGG... =)

Pretty sure I read someone is bringing one

Nice! I've been too busy playing mine to order the 40 pin connector for BK.

To each their own.

I had the chance to play good examples of BK and BK2K that were sitting next to each other at CA Extreme a few years ago. BK2K wasn't nearly as fun to me as BK.

I love the flow from the upper to lower playfield on BK and find the gameplay to be more balanced.
