I have finally got my 2nd system 7 board working (Thanks to Marco's test ROM), put it in the machine with the same result, although the machine freezes after a minute or so with this second CPU board whereas with my first CPU board it could go up to 45 minutes without locking up. It isn't a voltage issue as the PSB supplies 4.99v and there is no fluctuation when the CPU locks up.
The soundboard is disconnected so the only common parts, discounting the PSB, are driverboard and game ROMs. The driverboard and CPU pass all the tests with Marco's test ROM and the game ROMs are new.
Can anyone suggest where to start?
New 40 pin (on both boards)
New header pins on all boards
Recap power supply
New ROM sockets
New CPU socket
New ROM chips (never seen these be bad but it can happen)
