Hi Draegermeister. Were you able to located the BK HardTop you were looking for?
FYI I'm selling the original pencil playfield design for #black-knight on ebay if anyone is interested.
ebay.com link: pinballvault
Just joined the club. Picked up a BK and a FP2 for 500 total. BK looks really nice but needs a BG. Virtually no ink left on it except a faint outline of the title.
Quoted from Tomass:Never actually played BK either, so hoping it is a good player's game.
Its a excellent game, cpr has new bg's for about 300 after shipping and look amazing

Nice. Thanks, because I don't this one is gonna cut it.
20191101_185638 (resized).jpgQuoted from Tomass:Does anyone have a clue to what this wire is for? Orange/white, right where the head attaches. Nothing appears to be cut on any of the harnesses but it is stapled and looks as if it may have been factory.[quoted image]
To hold the wiring up at the top while the backbox is off during transport? So you don't have to dig the wires off of the bottom of the cabinet.
That's my guess.

That makes sense. Thanks.

It doesn't look like factory wiring to me.
Thomas’s
I searched for an answer to that question several years ago, and as Steve-o suggested, it was to hold the wiring harness in place. Gottlieb would use scrap pieces of wire to tie and hold up the harness. (I think this was covered in RGP group.)
Drove me nuts trying to figure out where the wire was supposed to go until I learned that fact.

Thank you! My main concern was something cut that was supposed to be in the harness. Seems that I am in the clear. I will be messing some more with both these system 7's to see if they boot.
Quoted from gutz:It doesn't look like factory wiring to me.
It is... The E.M. games had it too.
Quoted from vec-tor:It is... The E.M. games had it too.
I thought it was, mainly due to how it looked. It was stapled and that staple looked to have been in place a very long time.
So between this and a Firepower 2, I only got 1 set of legs. I will post a pic later, as I am curious which machine they belong to. I am not sure if both these game came with the same legs, but it seems that they changed right around this period if I am correct.
Quoted from Tomass:So should this have non ribbed legs like Firepower or the double ribbed legs like the system 11's?
1980's Black Knight has regular non-ribbed legs.
The first game by Williams to have any "ribbing" to the legs was High Speed 1985.
Quoted from Tomass:Nice. Thanks, because I don't this one is gonna cut it.[quoted image]
Wow!Thats the worse bg ive ever seen man
Quoted from Tbpilot78:Wow!Thats the worse bg ive ever seen man
Yeah, me too. Can't imagine how it got that bad.
Quick question. BK has three 23-750 coils (#6, #7 & #8), yet all of these coils in my BK are 23-850s.
The 23-750 coil seems to be "out-of-stock" almost everywhere.
What is best practice?
1. Ignore and continue as is? or
2. Take the coil apart and remove 100 windings?
Thanks!
I would leave them. If it bugs you or is causing problems, take 100 turns of wire off the 850 and relabel it as a 750.
So I am wondering if anyone has a scan of the BG that I could get a translight printed from? I don't have the cash for a new BG at the moment, so looking for something to hold me over.

Ill send you a pm, but shipping to Alaska may be the prohibiting factor.
Thanks Michel k17 for the glass. It’s a huge improvement over my stock unit. Your packaging was absolutely perfect. Now if you only had a Lectronamo glass.......

I had purchased a new BK backglass back in May, and eventually, I figured something was not quite right. It seemed like some of the artwork was just plain missing.

Missing Black Highlight (resized).png
I sent a note to CPR to ask for help with the problem, and this is the very professional response that I got:
Thank you for bringing this to us. I know exactly what those glass problems are, as a couple printed wrong on a day back in the spring, and got sat aside. Somehow, both eventually later got grabbed and shipped to customers. This wasn't known until a little bit later, when we discovered the bunk prints were missing.
We were wondering where those glasses had went. One guy spoke up many months ago and we had exchanged his. Yours looks to be thankfully found, now we can deal with it.
The raster server that runs the press had stepped the gold layer ahead one in the layers... making the glass look the way it does, mainly because the gold layer ended up covering a whole bunch of the blackline layer.
Now for the odd part... I need you to destroy the bunk glass you have. Be safe, but being tempered the glass should break easily. Wrap in a sheet, snap the edge with a hammer. The glass is tempered, so it should "pop" into a million pieces... thus best being in a sheet (or hefty garbage bag). Then I need you to forward in a couple pictures to the web site address: [email protected] The reason for this is because our Bally/Williams licensing rules enforce the destruction of repro pieces that are too erroneous to allow out there in the wild.
So story short, pop the one we sent you, and a new one will be on it's way to replace it.
So yes, even though it broke my heart, I destroyed the backglass as they asked.
Within a few days, I received the new and corrected backglass with all of the correct artwork. I can also confirm that the mirror finish is perfect!
Again: huge kudos to CPR. You guys rock!

I'm looking for a black knight 6-page flyer
I've searched all over the net and I can only find the single page flyer.
Anyone has one for sale, please PM
Regards Pinwaz
Im in and Im loving my BK! Has anyone added a light on upper right playfield under the plastic? im thinking of doing so.
It's been tried, and it is a waste of time. Even with a light, none of the light makes it through the plastic. If you are talking about the knight looking towards the left: don't waste your time.
Just played a BK tonight at a local bar which, as it turned out, had that light, and it did nothing.

Here is a post that shows all of the extra lights that can be added on the right side of the playfield, both lower and upper playfields. You can be the judge yourself.

I added 3 lights to the upper playfield and it made a big difference. I installed them behind the red banner plastic facing to the back and not directly up.

Thanks Michel. This is the area I was talking about. The lower blue area looked good, the Knight did not look so good. Thanks again for the link!

I ran cool white LED strip lighting under the right side upper playfield plastics with decent results. I also added a spotlight, hidden under the plastic at the front of the upper playfield.

Wow: that looks spectacular!
Do you have the specifics of your installation? (parts and location of your installation) - if available.

Here are some shots of the right upper playfield strip lighting. No photo of it, but I also installed some strip lighting in the bay between the two ramps on the upper playfield. I just used a Comet matric bulb and soldered a matrix connector to my strip wiring. I don't have a photo of the spotlight install but it was completely hidden under the plastic.

FYI, having a free shipping special for the weekend on my Black Knight topper (and other items, minimum $10 order). Just mention "pinside" in your order through Monday. Amounts to about 15% off the regular total price.
WTB: Green out lane proto plastics (with graphics right side up).
I'd like to get a set of the out lane proto plastics with the graphics the right side up. I got one of the early CPR sets with them upside down and CPR doesn't sell them individually.
PM me if you have some.
just a heads up. a donor/basket case black knight is on fb market for $500. the kicker- it is a limited version.

I'm in the club! Picked up my first pinball machine on Saturday--a pretty nice Black Knight! So excited! Loving it! This machine is loaded; way ahead of its time. In a lot of ways I think it beats some system 11's in the feature and gameplay department.

I don't see much playfield wear at all....that's rare. The yellow skirt on the upper playfield pop bumper is a nice touch...I've seen only white ones there before (including mine).
Quoted from MoSeS_1592:Please confirm... in the default settings, two or three captured balls intended to start multiball do NOT carry over each turn if multiball is not achieved before round is over, right? Meaning you need lock two/ three balls AND achieve multiball on the same round or else the locked balls don't count and the locked multiball counter resets, correct?
Hey, 10 months later follow-up. For me, I like changing the game adjustment so that it saves the locks after ball drain. It technically makes the game a little easier, but for me BK can be a pretty mean game anyway, so that's not a bad thing. Plus, saving ball-locks between ball drains feels a lot more modern. So when I set it to retain locks, it makes BK feel that much more ahead of its time for me. Lastly, its really annoying to lock 2 balls, and then drain and have to start completely over. You all ready have to start over with your bonus and drop bank lights, so I think that's enough punishment.
But hey, to each their own!
