Hello everyone!! I thought I would creat a thread documenting a project black knight I picked up that my father and I are going to try our first restoration on.

With our background in automotive restoration, and my dad doing woodworking and building hand built bamboo fly rods in his spare time, I think we could possibly have a pretty nice pin when it's done.

What I'm planning on doing is:

Lower cabinet stripped, repaired, and repainted with PPG dbc products.

Fully rebuilt back box refinished with PPG dbc products

Boards repaired by John War

New xpin power supply

Touched up playfeild then recleared with PPG 3000 clear.

Deep cleaning and tumbled parts

High polished ramps, ball guides, side rails, coin door, legs, and pretty much anything else I can polish.

Full LEDs by Comet

Flattened and repaired plastics. Replaced if need be

Possibly a new back glass if I can find one without breaking the bank.

Possibly new xpin LED displays

Small misc. peices as needed.

I'm sure there will be a lot more but that's all I can think of right now. Hopefully it will come out as nice as I can picture in my head

New xpin power board. The game was a hybrid between an early model back box with the transformer up top, and a late model bottom cabinet with the transformer located in the bottom. The wiring was for the lower transformer but the power supply was the old system 6. I decided to just get a new xpin PS and not worry about trying to find a Williams one.

I also have to change one of the plugs because it doesn't match any of the connectors. thanks to everyone on my thread about my muster plug for belong me out!!

Picked up a new pop bumper cap because I like to get ahead of myself

The game dint really do much when I brought it home, checked everything, and plugged it in. I reseated the connectors and was able to get it to flash the HSTD and it would randomly have the black knight laugh.

I decided to have John Wart repair the boards and I should have them back hopefully next week. If everything works as planned and the game boots correctly, I will start the tear down of everything.

Boards came in today and they look great!!! They were all original and number matching. I was nervous as hell getting everything plugged in and ready to boot up!

Everything booted up and played just great!! John wart did an amazing job on the boards!! Now it's time for the year down to rebuild the cabinet and start on the play frills. This is where my dad comes in. With his experience on woodworking, I'm hoping to have a really nice cabinet when it's all said and done

The only thing that didn't work was the player 3 and 4 displays. I tried switching them around and switching the cables out but I think they are just shot. Ideally it would be nice to find just 2 replacement displays instead of doing LEDs right now. If anyone has anything available please let me know. I'd gladly buy them for you.

I'm probably going to have to buy a new backglass because the one I have is pretty jacked up. I emailed Mayfair to see if they still have them available. I'm really hoping they do
