I saw that ad.

Wow, a BK is a $6900 machine. Who would've thunk it....LOL

Tsskinne,

I just wrapped up a shop job on my BK. Probably about 60 hours just on the ME portion of the rebuild.
There's a fine line between getting good results using ME and removing paint. Take your time, wipe of the white ME haze often. Use basically no pressure when using the ME. The before and after results are astounding.

My friend just texted that listing to me while I was on my way into work...I think I should post right after him on there and offer mine up for a measly $5,000 nice little undercutting and watch the free market economic escapades ensue.

Just saw this as well, thank you very much for the advice. I am very new to the whole hobby and have tons to learn. Indy for you is this a hobby or a job, just curious? Also if you ever have any time available in the summer I would love to come down and learn a few things....I love learning, but I am much better at it when it is hands on and not just reading and watching videos. Not that they don't help, but in person is much easier...I have no problem doing the little pain in the ass work either as long as I'm taught to do it right.

Great score! Black Knight is an awesome game!

Quoted from Tsskinne:

Want to try to use black knight as my learning machine, and perhaps first attempt at a restore, love that it plays, but would really like to at least get that upper playfield looking like maybe a 7 or 8 instead of a 2/3.

This is a pretty complicated machine for your first restore. Especially if you are planning to strip the playfields and restore them too. The split playfield can be a pain to work with. Just something to think about.

That being said, there are reproduction playfield pairs out there. CPR (Classic Playfield Reproductions www.classicplayfields.com) made them a while back and I bet with some time you could find a set for sale. Not too long ago, Kevin at CPR told me he had a few playfield pairs left for sale. They are not perfect and can be had for a very good price. From what I understand, the upper playfield is great but the lower one has some print registration issues. May be worth a shot!

I'm not sure I'll be doing any pinball related stuff for a while. I'm not sure, but I may have torn a tendon in my right arm a couple days ago.

I'm no expert...I just learn as I go.

Feel free to ask me any question, I can try to help.

Thanks to both for the advice...I'll check with CPR....and I don't think any game would be easy for me, but I teach and have summer off and I only work at bar part time during those months so ideally have the time to learn.

So took game to lake house in Michigan this weekend for bachelor party I was hosting and the game ended up being the hit of the party....if we don't count the trips to the local adult entertainment center...anyway 6 or more guys stood around and played a game that was older than all of us. It got very competitive. As we played things on the game broke as it had probably not gotten that much use in over 25 years. I will be back on asking for more help after my last day of school tomorrow but thought I would share the story and a picture.
