I was asked by enough people to make the impossible to find wireform that drops ball from the upper playfield. So, I went out today and bought the machine. I think I have a better solution then the spring design thats on it. I will be selling wireforms with the spring or my replacement design. This is another follow the build post. I will know pricing once I get the parts and labor nailed down. This first clone is a hair smaller diameter stainless. I will look for the exact size that williams used and see if I can buy it. The ones I use are fine and survive location play. I will post as it goes. Totally doable. Same as always, I will make as many as requested. I make wireforms for Mandalorian Pro machines and that is my priority, but to break things up a bit for creativity I will make both.

Following. I was just curious about the spring. Is it supposed to be straight or have a couple of bends in it like yours (and mine) Also will be watching for your alternative to the spring.

The spring on mine is straight.

Thanks! Tig welding is alot better with stainless steel. Not done, but I got everything but spring arm done.

We were also toying with the idea of having an alternate build- one that would go down the right outlane so you couldn't just hold up the right flipper. Had some people interested in that too. Would be a sweet tournament mod.

Looks good , definitely better build

My only concern without the extra height and length of spring would be balls hopping over. Even with the spring I have an occasional ball come over the spring and land on the plastic. What do you think?

That happened on this one with the spring one installed. I did a swing arm blocking pivot. It hooks on and rotates into place and is secured by screw on side. This is just first crack at getting rid of the spring. I am trying for a two piece solution. All it will involve is removing the upper wireform add on prior to lifting upper playfield forward. I will look for springs soon and do original design. This swing arm was only to see it function. It does fine, but I can do better on the shaping

Impressive how quickly you put that together..
It sounds like you are testing for that possible issue, so maybe your idea is better than a spring. Thanks for all the posts

I see what you did. That looks like it might even better by closing the gap completely, when you narrow in on the shape. Nice !

#11 2 years ago

WOW, you've definitely got some considerable skill & talent Loganpinball Nice work so far, especially so quickly. You'll make a lot of BK2K owners including myself very happy. I'm interested to see what other option you settle on instead of the spring and would possible buy both an original exact replacement and your new design.

Odd ball 5/32”. I will track it down and I will need to figure out heat settings to weld, but I can get it. My supplier does not carry this size.

My spare wireform, when looking closely at it, uses two different gauges of wire (three if you include the post mounts). Spring facing upwards, the wires on the rounded section on the top and most left (below the bent wire) are a different size. Don't know if others have the same thing.

The mount are very small gauge wire. I am making the mounts larger. I have the 5/32 rods now.

Soon. I just need to find the springs. And playtest.

The mounts are a smaller gauge. Yes, I agree. Just wonder why two of the pieces on the rail itself are a smaller gauge on my spare.

Either way, I am in for one of yours!

Upon further inspection, my spare is missing the one mount and the one in the game has all three mounts but one has broken away from the rail.

Thanks for all your efforts.

I do $50 an hour labor rate welding. I need to make another two of these to see what I will need to sell them. Trying for today or tomorrow. Cost will include the rods, tungsten, argon used and stoning them.
Hopefully that explains where I end up.

#26 2 years ago

I would like to see the whole wire form redesigned for bk2k. It would.be nice if the top wireform had an opening to a wireform feeding the left return lane. The right drop wireform could stay in place. It would mix the flow up a bit.

I did not know if it was a good idea as this game is right flipper heavy? I can make it so the locked balls dump to left flipper, but would anyone be interested in such a mod? I am up to building anything for the game. I am suprised at how much I like it so far. Any thoughts?

I would try a mod to either:
a)go to the right inlane so you can't trap immediately or
b) have everything go to the left inlane (or maybe just from the WAR targets?)

This game is unfortunately labeled a one flipper only game for a reason- and it's the main reason I ended up selling mine. I could play a 5 minute ball pretty consistently and I felt bad people just watching me trap and flip left orbit all day.

Next could be pinbot. Have a wireform that would exit mini playfield on left side and feed the left return lane. It could have a microswitch on it to score 20k vortex value.

What an awesome idea. Having the stock original replacement and the ability to install the SWORD is really appealing.

#39 2 years ago

Almost done with the sword! Catches multiball and “w”. The “a”and “r” will be tied into playfield drop. I have a alternating mech that I copied from data east in my discovery machine and will add it to sword so balls will alternate left to right rail.

That is cool! Hats off to your creativity and skills. I am interested in just one of the reproduction wire forms with the spring for my game. If being able to cradle the multi ball to easily is a problem, wouldn't using the longer WPC coil stops for the flippers help?

#41 2 years ago

Nice to see this coming together for BK2000.
Im definitely in for a new original wireform as well as a replacement for the front edge wireform along the
front of the upper playfield if you get to that one as well.
I have been trying to track both of these wireforms for probably 7-8 years so I can put the finish
on my BK2000 project pin.
Thanks again to all for moving this forward.

Best Regards,
John

Love it. If you can get enough force off out of that right inland ramp the game's a totally different (and better IMO) game.

#46 2 years ago

The ball speed is to great from upper playfield to drop onto this wireform right lane drop. It rebounds and dead stops. I cut it out and rewelded main form. I just need to add alternating mech and finish upper to lowet drop.

And I did not like the top rail ends above drops, now its fully weaponized!
