When you power up the everything seems right. All lights, attract voice and displays. All "0"s and alternating between high score. Gate cycles as it should in attract. When I push the start button ball eject pulses once a declining short tune plays for 3 seconds then nothing. When I do the the test button lights cycle, solenoids cycle. On step 20 for memory test "2332 2" is displayed on player 1 for 10 seconds goes out and then 99 is displayed on the ball display. Anyone ever see this on before?

If you lift up the playfield without a ball and hit the start button, what happens? Can you see the coil do a full eject? Or does it do something funky like go halfway and then get stuck?

Or do you need to take the apron off to see it, I forget. Either way I'd be curious to see with my own eyes the eject try to function.

So no ball is coming out despite the trough release firing? Sounds like a physical issue

It's under the apron, yeah.

I have the apron off. With no balls in the game and I hit the start it still tries to kick a ball. I put one ball in and hit the start and it did kick it up to the ready. Any thoughts on the temporary 2332 2 in player one window during memory test?

Wild guess but maybe it's telling you the 2332 ROM at U2 is bad?? Just like the "7641 x" game ROM error.

#6 3 months ago

You may be right. During the system test all digits display correct but when I go into book keeping some segment of the digits are missing. What do you think?

#7 3 months ago

Maybe later/tomorrow I'll try it in emulation by corrupting U2 ROM data and see if I get that message at test #20.

Thank you, I'll be standing by.

Just curious, is this an original system 80 CPU?

Connectors?

#11 3 months ago

Yes original 80 CPU
I've rung out connectors and all looks good. I don't get it everything looks right till you hit the start button.

Is test #20 supposed to display the bad mem chip and then stay there? Not show '99' after 10 seconds? On target newsletter sort of implies it would only show 99 if none of the mem chips tested bad. (?) Does it display anything in player 2 display when you get the 2332-2 error? Or maybe that is only for the 'game prom' 2716 as described...

Where do you see reference to this "R3272-12" ROM?

Listed part number on the schematic. Look at Frenchmarky posted in the thread for that code. By that post implies U3 is bad.

I don't see anything in frenchmarky's post with that specific part number which is why I asked but I see the original chips are stamped with it.
If you can't source an original you'll probably have to get an EPROM adapter.

I saw the post of how to make an Eprom adaptor but where do I get the program data to load in it? Or am I incorrect?
Does anyone sell them?
