Black Hole
Gottlieb, 1981Hi All,
I have a problem on my black hole. The lower playfield kicker solenoid is not working. The ball drains on the lower playfield and then sits at the bottom of the tube. How can I go about narrowing down this issue?
The rest of the game seems to be functioning normally.

Check the simple things first. 1) check the diode on the coil with a multimeter to make sure it is still okay. 2) check connections to coil. 3) raise the lower playfield and check the transistor that controls the coil with a multimeter. It is mounted to the lower playfield. You should see two silver transistors side by side. The one on the left controls the ball kicker. Also check wire connections to that transistor. 4) make sure the switch ball kicker switch is adjusted properly - clean and making good contact. You might also check the lower playfield fuse that controls the kicker The fuses are mounted on the lower playfield.

Thanks, it was a bad transistor, replaced it and we are good to go!
