Hi Everyone,

Does a diagram exist noting which lightbulb types should be place where on teh machine?

I understand that this machine uses 44/47's, 313, 455 but want to be sure that they are placed correctly, and that nothing is currently placed incorrectly.

Thanks!
Dan

313 go in the downward pointing lights around the playfield window. All other bulbs on the playfield are 44s

455s usually go behind the spinning disk on the backglass

Thanks for the answer, I'll be checking them out soon. forgot to come back to the topic

Those 313 lamps are a PITA.
I implemented this mod so that I could use standard #44 lamps or even LEDs.
Enjoy.

In 25 years I don't remember a 313 ever burning out on my BH. A few were getting a little blackened, so I picked up a couple of boxes, still available for about 6 bucks a box. 44s down there would not be bright enough for me especially with the tinted pf window, they are only about 1/4 the candlepower of a 313 so IMO that 6V conversion definitely calls for super bright LEDs if you do it. There are also LED 313 equivalents available for about a buck fifty that you can just pop right in but don't know if the brightness is equivalent to a 313.

I didn't do the mod for exactly the reason frenchmarky says, too dim. I picked up the 313 led cointaker bulbs, they are even brighter and makes the lower playfield nice and visible. So those are brighter; there might be dimmer ones available but I'm happy with those. Put comet (cool white IIRC) in the rest of the bulbs.

I used to be a 'better dead than led' guy but I also always said when they got close enough to regular bulbs I'd switch. The heat savings on the backglasses alone (I'm pretty sure I got all the heads so far) during parties is amazing - the basement used to get up to 90+ degrees, now it stays ambient (depending on how many people are there of course body heat adds a lot....)

LED's 5 or 6 years ago were pretty bad, now several vendors have nice product that doesn't look like flickering dim junk sold previously.

I've always stuck with 44s for GI (and only LED an insert here and there for special cases like really dark ones) but BH is the only game where I changed all the GI lamps to LEDs - 2X-bright warm whites. Except I kept the good ol' blinker lamps behind the spinning disc. The pf and backglass are so darn dark especially given the super-dark plastics, I thought it needed the boost.

I didn't like the current selection of 455 LEDs (maybe they have improved since I did this modification).

So I did this drastic modification. It looks awesome, but it is invasive. I wish there were better -- more random blinking 455 LEDs available.
