Got any other games you could swap it with?

The credit display has its own digit decoding chip, so it's possible it's bad, or there's a connection issue

I'd still suspect connections first. It uses the same digit input as the bonus display, coming from A1J2 via A10J5. Check continuity first with the game off. Try disconnecting the bonus display, see if it makes a difference
