Just closed up the pizza shop and got home to find my www.pinballsidemirrors.com order waiting for me.

Talk about a quick delivery. I placed the order on Thanksgiving day around 9 or 10 PM I believe and I'm about to install it into the wpt now. Any advice as I do this other than "careful not to scratch it with the playfield" ??

Similar experience with shipping. I was very impressed!

Like I mentioned in the other thread, it might be a good idea to start a master thread of games with mirror blades so people can see what they think. Might be a good time since I'm sure many of us will be putting the m on this weekend.

Still waiting for mine. Ordered 2 sets. One Definately for ACDC. The other goes to xmen or LoTR. I'm leaning towards xmen. I already got a set for TFLE and they look bitching. Hope my order comes today.

And I'm with Law, a master thread with tons of pics w mirror blades would be nice.

Got mine yesterday too, they look great (haven't installed yet though)!

Go Xmen. Gold looks best in LOTR

I received mine as well yesterday. Packed nice and arrived safely. One set suffered slightly from rubbing against the cardboard but its not bad at all and will easily buff out. Just picked up a set of Erwin clamps to ease the installation. The pads on these have a nice feel to them and will definitely prevent marring. +1 on the thread when we all get these installed.

Still no joy here. Hopefully they'll arrive next week.

Mine came and now I'm really regretting my purchase.

The notches cut aren't deep enough to properly align the hole with the backbox hinge hole. I tried DM and T2. The money I saved on Black Friday I had to spend to get some metal snips to try and notch it out. That didn't work. So I basically destroyed the blade. FML

Yeah, no flames needed... just my experience. I'm just pissed that the holes don't line up. The first machine I was like, 'Ok, I'll just throw them on a different game'... when they didn't work on that game either I was a little irritated.

Good for you if you're happy with the product and have no issues!

that's too bad. did you try to contact the buyer before you tried to modify it?? oh well i guess, just drink a few beers and blow it off.

Nah, I knew if I blew it was a lost cause.

You're right, nothing a few brews can't fix.

Still waiting for mine, received no information on shipping or anything yet.

Got mine installed on my TZ and they went in perfectly. Still waiting to peel back the film on the other set I am putting into my WCS94 restore.

I haven't gotten mine either. I emailed Marty about it today and he responded saying the remaining orders ship Monday!!

So if you haven't gotten your Black Friday mirrors yet, they should be coming soon

Do they not come with double sided tape?

    No they do not.

I think he is shipping them with screws. I also have not received mine yet.

that would have been nice to know a few days ago LOL. I thought they had already shipped, so I have been checking the front door a few times a day. Thanks for the info Eskaybee!

No, comes with eight screws and a square-head driver. The set I installed on my TZ fits perfectly flush with the three screws in the bottom and the hinge bolt, so no need for the tape IMO - but obviously YRMV.

Guess I'll be ordering tape.... Would rather install them so they can be removed.

I'd imagine unscrewing 2-3 small screws would be just as quick.

Double sided tape with a strong enough adhesive to bond side mirrors to the painted sides will be a problem if you want to remove the side mirrors. Likely you will kink and bend the side mirrors during removal. You will also likely remove the paint from your side panels as the the tape will grip the side mirror better than the painted surface, which means your paint will go.

It is a lot easier to remove three small screws and cover the holes that are below the playfield than to deal with attempting to remove a double sided tape installation.

The reality is, an installation using screws is easily removed. Using double side tape is more permanent and can remove your paint, maybe even wood when attempting to remove the side mirrors. Further, adding the double sided tape further increases the chance mirror damage as this will reduce your side clearances - X2 the thickness of the tape.

It's your machine and obviously your choice, but using double side tape is not a good idea.

All the blades I've ever installed have been mounted with double sided tape from the manufacturer(Pinball decals and Drano). I like that idea better than mounting with screws...

They did not use the foam version of the tape. It was similar to a thin masking tape with adhesive on both sides. Worked well.

    #25 11 years ago

I guess you didn't try to remove the mirror blades then.......

I am sure the double sided tape holds well. But your comment was you wanted to remove the side mirrors, and that is where you may find some difficulty and damage using double sided tape.

If you like it, do it.

The blades I got from PDI had both tape and screws. Tape on the top and three screws on the bottom

    #27 11 years ago

I got mine today and installed them on my Tron LE. Looks *fantastic*!

As mentioned, these do not come with double sided tape like Drano's or PDI. I have mixed feelings on that. The issue is that without the tape, the top of the blades can bow out a bit, which makes it more likely that they will get scratched. Then again, double sided tape might make them stick out further.

Just make sure that you pull the blade as tight as you can before you put the second and third screws in.

This is a high quality product that looks great. Mine did come tweaked a bit, even though the package looked perfect. Hopefully Marty will come up with a new packaging method to protect the bladed better.

My second set will go on my MM.

Now AC/DC is going to look naked in comparison.

Yeah I installed mine on acdc and they look like they were made for it. Its crazy how much it lights up the game. Acdc is bright as it is. I was a little apprehensive about using screws to attach them but then realized if I wanted to remove them it wouldnt take much to restore where the holes are. I dont see any bowing in mine but im sure that will change with temperature changes.

Do any of you have The Shadow with blades installed? Was looking for a good color blade for it? Does anyone sell gold blades?
