Recently, there is black dust (carbon?) collecting on top of the coin box within my Avengers LE Hulk Stern Pinball cabinet. What's the problem? Is there something wrong with the flipper mechanisms/coils? Is there a fire hazard?

Nothing wrong. Just the result of wear from the plunger and moving parts, that moves the flipper.

Pinball machines have been generating magic black dust since the beginning.

Now how about that white dust that seems to be leaching out of the light sockets? Lead?

White rust forms from the zinc galvanizing. Try a wipe with vinegar and then a rub with a magic eraser.
