Recently, there is black dust (carbon?) collecting on top of the coin box within my Avengers LE Hulk Stern Pinball cabinet. What's the problem? Is there something wrong with the flipper mechanisms/coils? Is there a fire hazard?

Nothing wrong. Just the result of wear from the plunger and moving parts, that moves the flipper.
