So much like everyone else I waited for months (4 to be exact) to get my new BK topper from Stern. Got it installed and immediately had issues where after a game, the left side gate LED board would quit working. You could power cycle the game and it would work fine again in attract mode and during the first game then magically would stop working after the game. I reached out to stern for warranty and sent them a video of the issue. They agreed it was strange and after dissembling the topper and looking for loose connections/damage and performing a wiggle test we came to the agreement that the topper node board may be at fault. I received the warranty node board today and got it installed............. Now my entire game doesn't work
You turn on the power and it cycles through its startup process as normal except I get no play field lights, no topper lights, no 48v power whatsoever, no back box LEDs nada. The main display works fine and goes into attract mode like it should, but the rest of the game is dead. Here is where it gets really strange, you open the coin door and you don't get the 48v dissabled message on the screen? Nothing changes, I try to access the service menu, but it won't respond to the menu buttons or even the start button. Here is where it gets really strange, you go to cycle the power off and turn off the switch for an instant the display changes to the 48v disabled screen and you see the playfield light up just as the machine shuts off.
UPDATE - I went ahead and swapped in the old node board and the game works just like it did before! Went ahead and reinstalled the new node board and reloded the Full firmware. Boot the game up and same issue. It seems the CPU board refuses to program the new node board??? Any ideas???
