    Ted's dad:

Watches Bill and Ted disappear in the phone booth and immediately return with his grandchild and knowing how to play.

Arrests DeNomolos, a literal super villain from the future.

Watches his son's band become world famous with the literal grim reaper on bass.

Sees evil robot bill and Ted from the future blow up in front of him.

Attends his daughter-in-law's birthday parties where they regularly state they are over 500 years old and from medieval England.

And still doesn't believe they traveled through time or went to hell.

    #302 3 years ago
    Quoted from CthulhuTilted:

I watched it 3 times this morning. I wasn't sure when I first started the movie honestly, but I think maybe it's just because the actors (and their characters) aged? It definitely feels like it belongs with the first 2 to me now, though.

If you watch it 5 more times today it’ll probably feel like it’s your entire universe.

    #303 3 years ago
    Quoted from seenev:

The plot really doesn't make sense at all... And I love the first two movies but... Well... Anyways. Just go into it with tempered expectations.

From the rest of your posts after the above statement, I can’t wait to hear your scholarly musings of Step Brothers 2 when it comes out...

    #304 3 years ago
    Quoted from CthulhuTilted:

Bill & Ted movies are not supposed to be the epitome of art house cinema, dude. It's an enjoyable movie with a positive ending. That's definitely something we definitely need in 2020.

Word. I see what he means about some jokes getting set up and cut. That happens in a LOT of movies. A LOT. Sometimes it’s cut for time, sometimes it’s because the shot wasn’t right, sometimes it’s because they filmed a Rated R script but wanted to get a PG-13. Anyway, all I’m taking from this is that he’s saying was “I wanted it to be spectacular! And it was pretty good.”

Yeah. I'm saying it could have been better but I still enjoyed it even if it starts falling apart near the end.

Pfft. All those plot points are from the second movie except for the part about Ted's dad not believing them, which comes up in the first few minutes of the new movie.

    #308 3 years ago

I just finished watching the new movie
Is is short and cheesy? Yes
Is the plot obvious immediately? Yes.
Are the special effects terrible? Yes.
Did i have a smile on my face for 70min? Yes.

If you are a fan of then original movies, this fits in nicely. As a stand alone movie it would be terrible. As a distant 3rd chapter its pretty darn adequate imo.
My name is Dennis and i approve this message.

I dug it. Brought a smile to my face, which has not really happened for quite a while. This year has been making me question quite a lot of my decisions. Glad they got this made, it was the family celebration it should have been

Ok you guys have convinced me to see it.

I forgot to mention the lady who plays Ted’s daughter does an INCREDIBLE impression of his body language, and I actually thought Keanu Reeves change from sad, depressed Ted at the start of the movie to the point about 1/3 of the way where he suddenly gets a mission and a purpose was some really subtle acting

Ted's daughter really did her homework.

On second watch I appreciated more the dynamic between their present and future selves. I'm still confused about some stuff. Maybe someone can clarify? (spoilers):

How did elderly Bill and Ted get the song?

How did the older princesses get the time machine to take themselves on a trip through time (and why did they seem to go to the same exact times and places as Bill and Ted - I feel like there must have been more to this side of the story that's missing?)?

How does the future know some details about a song played at a certain time and place but not what the song is or where exactly it is, or that's it's the daughter's song? I found the whole thing about the future not know about the past really confusing.

    #315 3 years ago

Bill and Ted Face the music was idiotic, stupid, dumb, ridiculous, all over the place, lovable and funny. EXACTLY how it should’ve been! Loved it!!!!!

    Dennis!!!

    #316 3 years ago

I'd really prefer Bill & Ted over all this superhero pins.

-They mentioned a few times that they were dealing with multiple realities, I think them having/not having the song tied in with that.
-Older princesses originally stole it when they went to visit old Bill & Ted
    -See my first comment.

There needs to be a Death and Dennis spin off franchise buddy movie.

I think the song wasn’t necessarily the actual (full) song. Remember they only heard the little
Snippet of their guitar solo, I’m not even sure if it was the same thing they played later - so they were searching for a song and old B&T knew what was going to happen - since they broke the USB drive they never actually heard the whole thing

The older princesses travelled with the phone booth because they also knew what was going to happen, so they did what they were supposed to do in order for them all to end up together as a Family. I’ll have to watch again to see from where they got the phone booth in the first place.

Glad the new movie is good. Russel's crowes ' unhinged' was bad. Crowe is fat now.

What I would like to see in this pinball is a time machine. Get this. You unlock the time machine with 3 balls going in. When the balls come back out, they are a different color.

    #324 3 years ago

Face the music is all right. Was a little slow; but I wasn't a huge fan of first two.
but I laughed. I cried. I had fun. Worth 25; no... but what else am I going to spend it on?

Bill and Ted's daughters die in 2020. Bill and Ted die in 2067 and meet them in hell. Does that mean their daughters have been in hell for 47 years?

We enjoyed it. We did the movie marathon for $34.99 on Vudu (cheaper than two tix for face the music). Watching the first, instantly transported me to my youth in the 80’s with instant recall of one liners, nostalgia of the time and a permanent smile. The 2nd Reminded me of all that was wrong with film in the 80’s/90’s recast to save a buck, skimp on writers, and compromise. Original title was Bill and Ted go to Hell.

“Spoiler alert” Face the music, had me wondering for the first 30 minutes “why does Keanu look so old” why weren’t the original princesses brought back, who is this future chick and why is this dam robot talking. Bright points were Death, Time Travel, Dave Grohl, and the grown up little dudes who stole the show. Overall better than the second movie, and certainly worthy of the $34.99, and time invested by the family watching. I will watch it again as I am sure I missed a bunch. Plenty of laughs and maybe a few tears at the end.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

Actually Bill and Ted face the music was written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who also wrote he first two films. I thought it was great they had the same writing team for all three films.

This movie fully met my expectarions of a silly, nostalgic, goofy, mindless, and most importantly fun 91 minute diversion from the real world.

Its only 78min including the credits but i agree

    #331 3 years ago
    Quoted from seenev:

. I feel like there's got to be some stuff missing and I just assumed it's because they didn't have time for it. For example, the scene from the trailer where they meet their daughters in hell and they ask how they are, but then say "but how ARE you?"... That seems like it would have been set up by a scene with the therapist where she tells them to ask how their wives really are... But there's no such scene in the movie.

The one that bumped me was Bill knowing that Kelly was Rufus’ daughter. How the F would he know that? In my mind there’s a cut scene where Rufus visited them over the years, and brought his young daughter to meet their young daughters....but they didn’t have money to do a good CG Rufus. I wish they would have just rewritten that so Kelly tells them she’s Rufus’s daughter after they see the hologram.

Minor nitpicks - I had a smile from ear to ear & it’s just a minor miracle that this movie even exists. To get a true sequel with the original cast & writers vs. a reboot or remake just doesn’t seem to happen. I just wish it was a bit longer. I feel like it needed more build up front, showing some of the families dynamics, showing the Princesses as the breadwinners, etc. I also would have liked maybe 5 min more after the ending, again showing the families together & happy & things back to normal. There’s really no interaction between the moms and daughters, and that felt very odd to me.

    #332 3 years ago

man, i came here to see if anyone else disliked it as much as i did. I'm clearly in the minority. i really can't think of a single redeeming factor. nothing about it made me feel like it was a good sequel OR stand-alone movie . more just a failed mish-mosh of throwbacks and nostalgia, marred by terrible writing and acting. and before anyone tells me it's not supposed to be a cinematic tour-de-force, i get that. that's one of my favorite characteristics of the first two. but at least those didn't lose my attention and caring at 9 different points during the films. it takes a lot for me to feel like a 1hr 12min film is way too long. that was this movie's only accomplishment to me.

I think I like the movie more after watching it again. I do think it has flaws but it's just fun to see Bill and Ted again, especially when they interact with their future selves. I think the main thing that bothered me is that this movie retcons the future of the previous two movies without any explanation at all. The first two movies portray a future society built on Bill and Ted's music in general. This movie changes all that and just makes the future aware of some prophecy where "Preston and Logan" perform a song at a specific time and place that prevents the universe from collapsing...and they don't knew what or where it is despite it being in their past. I think that part of the movie is very sloppy.

But the scenes with Bill and Ted interacting with themselves are worth the price alone.

I don’t think it was retconned - I think, like any mythology, the further you get from it, the further it strays from the truth. This is 700 years in the future. There was a line about Rufus believing in the prophecy & the leader didn’t seem so sure about it. So - that all worked OK for me. Also, it seems like time/reality had to unravel and intersect in order for everyone throughout time to be part of the song and unite the world. It’s a self sustaining time loop, something that was always part of B&T time stuff...the future affecting the past & whatnot.

One of joys of this franchise is how little care they put into trying to keep timelines and logic kosher. You can drive yourself insane at trying to figure out if Looper actually makes sense or you can enjoy Bill and Ted dropping buckets on their enemies by promising to arrange booby traps later. Either way it’s good clean fun!

Bill & Ted is silly and absurdist, so goofy time logic doesn’t bother me like it does in a movie pretending to be serious like Looper. Looper lost me right at the start when the future guy’s limbs kept vanishing because his past self was being tortured. If that’s what happened to him in the past, he would have never lived to old age with his arms and legs in the first place.

Besides the nostalgia factor that made me smile throughout the movie, I thought it was fun watching John Wick act like a goofball.

    Hopefully not

Bill and Ted were the biggest rock stars in the world in the early to mid 90s when Dave Grohl was also a well known Rockstar.

Dave Grohl: Who are you guys?

Got the new movie yesterday and started rewatching the old movies with my wife and children...

Bill & Ted did not age "that" well (well, nearly any movie feels a bit "slow" compared to todays cinema) but I still think it would make for a great ruleset.

That they have to repair the time machine would make for a nice side objective and that they have to collect all the historic figures again in the present time would perfectly adapt in a wizard mode (so you have to make every shot again to collect all people, enter Highschool, then hit every shot again to play a scene with each character in the Schools Auditorium).

Lastly you get the pincesses and perform together endlessly!

    Edit:
Additional Side Modes: Ramp Shot Combo Mode -> Waterloo Waterslide park; can only be activated if you allready have collected Napoleon.

Since this will probably never be made into a pin, it's another reason I'm buying a VP pin next month. It will very likely happen there from a fan like Masters of the Universe, GI Joe, and Halloween.

I would hope they'd put someone with more experience on it. I'd love to see Bill & Ted. The first two are two of my favorite movies. The third one isn't in the same class but it's not too bad. I even bought one of CDs used in the movie.

It would need to have a phone booth physical lock, robot bill and Ted toys, death multiball, waterslide ramp, and... STATION.

Seeing Jurassic Park „The Pin“ I‘m absolutely confident Jack would do a great job.
It‘s not only fun but all parts/ the BOM is masterfully used. I‘d never buy a JP pro, since the T-Rex doesn‘t move and the only leftover toy from the Premium/LE edition is just the Newton Ball with the car on a stick.
Hence in the Pin edition we suddenly have a TRex that actually does anything.

That the phone booth has to lock balls and drive up from under the playfiels is pretty much a must if you dont want to get roasted.
