Have you tried running one of those cleaning cards through it? Mine get picky at times and a few good clean passes and they seem to return to normal. Good luck.

Have you tried a kit like this? Always works on mine.

You apply the cleaner per instruction and keep running it through till clean. I do it 7-8 times. Cleans readers, rollers, track, and all. Hope it works for you and doesn't hurt to clean it anyway. Good Luck.
