then, on the other hand how many times has anybody ever had a pin that has played flawlessly and 5 minutes before the buyer turns up the game develops problems?

has happened more than once here..

    Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:

Pinrescue is sort of skewing the prices but not intentionally those are fully serviced and restored machines

I had a SO76 pass through my place and it was set on free play with a wad of paper?

    It's working.

I never ask if a game is working, they never are. At least not right.
    And

I'm sure it's just something small...

And I like to say: great, call me when you have it working!

Or my favorite ignorance one: it's really old, like from the 50's.
So you can see the score when the game isn't turned on?
    No.
So it's electronic. It's from the 70s or 80s. Not that old buddy.

I explain it to sellers that it's like buying an old car. You wouldn't pay $30,000 for a '57 Chevy that was rusty and not working...somebody that is knowledgeable and willing to spend numerous hours to fix the thing......

And no...your stupid new fuse isn't going to fix the problem or make it look better!

Most people who don't know, seem to estimate a game's age much older than it actually is.

"Just a fuse." Ha! I never realized fuses were added just so they could randomly blow and make work for pin techs.

Even if it's just a fuse, something made the damn thing blow in the first place!

"Works great." Someone selling a lone pin from their relative's basement thinks if it lights up, a ball comes out, and you can flip, that constitutes working great! So they aren't exactly lying, any more than people in times past saying the sun goes around the earth.

But... lots of 50's games had no score reels. You could only see a score when bulbs lit behind them, on the bg.
