payout is divided into three phases:
1] payout enable
on big time, that's just the selector lock trip relay tripping
2] win detection
as the search wipers spin, search relays corresponding to balls in holes are powering. You need three adjacent search relays to power at the same time to cause the search index unit to power and hold the wipers on the rivets.
3] payout
when the search index powers, the replay cams are released. Credits are added to the replay register and the replay counter unit steps up. When the replay counter steps up enough times, the circuit is disconnected and the search index power is released.
what to do
------------
look at the seach index unit. Is it powering and immediately releasing? If yes, loosen the unit and nudge it towards the backglass a little. The search wiper contacts must stay on the rivets when the index unit is powered.
if the search index unit isn't doing anything, easy thing is manually close three adjacent search relays and see if the search index unit powers. If no:
1] I usually stick a piece of paper between the 120V contacts on the tilt trip relay. That shuts off the motors
2] manually spin the search wipers until 3 adjacent search relays power at the same time
3] grab your voltmeter or jumper wire and find out why the search index coil isn't powering. Could be search relay switches, open at 96 switch on replay counter, replay counter not reset, etc. Anything in the circuit path from the search index coil to wire 21-3 that goes thru the search disc on the schem.
