I got a Big Hurt about a month ago, and I've fallen in love with it. However as Pins do, little things begin to go wrong, and they tend to add up. Just like on a used car! After a while the car is totaled. I'm wanting to avoid that, So far I've identified several parts I need to replace, but there is something called a Spring Flap, that raises the center ramp - which is kind of neat, they've attached this ramp thing to a flipper assembly turned on it's side! I think that's AWESOME! anytime a designer can re-use an already designed part for something else, if it does the job correctly, it saves that much more engineering and mfg time.
In addition to the Spring Flap, it needs an uphole kicker "Plunger Tip Cap", and a funky coil sleeve with a little shoulder on it. Apparently something called a Nyliner, sort of a bearing for the auto-shooter has cracked, and come out of this proper position, thus making the shooter only 1/2 as powerful as it needs to be. So both the auto-plunger, and the up-kicker end up kicking several times. I've blown a fuse once with that. I think it was the auto-kicker that blew. It'll end up kicking TWO balls out, and if it doesn't lift the ramp, it's almost impossible to shoot two balls out with whacking the plunger, let alone trying to have the auto-plunger kick two balls out! So really, if I don't fix these items it makes the game less than playable. But I love the thing so much, I'd find aftermarket, replacement, or I'd FABRICATE something - and in the case of that Spring Flap, I just might have to!
Anyone else having problems with their Big Hurt? I think we need an owner club! This game doesn't get the recognition that it ought to - most likely because of the "Gottlieb/Premier" name, but I say this a star among their lineup.
