the following is guessing. Some models / pins have NEVER - some have it seldom - some have it quite often: When we loose a ball "at high speed" - the ball rushes into the Outhole - jumps onto the rail - rushes over to the Shooter Alley --- the brain of the pin has no chance to realize "ball is lost I can step to next player / next ball".
To hinder this phenomena: The manufacturers mounted the wires "my AA, my BB" to slowdown the ball. Maybe, maybe the "my CC" is mounted because the phenomena still (with mounted AA and BB) did happen - too often (?). Greetings Rolf
