I am holding a friends BBB
I got to the Big Bang 3 times and never saw a Black light.
I never knew it had a Black light until reading up on it.
I went into Black Light test and sure enough nothing. I am Assuming that the bulb is bad.

Questions before I remove the old lamp

1 How is it removed? I don't want to risk damaging anything and 2 What is the replacement bulb Number/Model wattage etc there is only a Capcom part number for it in the manual.

Thanks

Bulb, ballast, or starter.

Remove like any florescent bulb. The number will be printed on it.

LOL LTG I know that, Its just where it is located. and there is some protective metal bar in front of it can't tell if the bar is also holding in the sockets. Also I couldn't tell if its a twist to install or a spring loaded socket. Don't want to break anything as its one of those really small bulbs and the sockets can be damaged if I try the wrong way to remove the bulb.

Not spring loaded. Just twist it.

Probably this. Two screws, remove the metal bar, easy to get out.

Here is a follow up. The replacement was straight forward as I suspected but I just wanted to make sure there was nothing unusual about the installation prior to going through with it so thanks all that responded.

Here are pics of the playfield with just the Black Light on and it does look very nice.

Really does change the game totally, and such a great visual effect for the player
Its one of those "shows up better in person" things

Really love this game, so glad I took the plunge and have to say huge thanks to what Gene and his team did,
I watch Al Warners Pins N Vids Version3 "The Making of BBB"
I was gripped to it, what a fascinating journey these pins come through and to finally have one in front of me to play is a real honor to their hard work and dedication.
#011 is safe with me! Its not going anywhere

hi there,
i am a happy new owner of this stunning pinball machine and i would like to know more about this pin.
about this black light, is it coming in a special mode?
about parts, is it possible to find them if needed?
what mods do exist?
which playfield areas do you advertise me to protect?
and i would like to know if the playfield had some tiny manufacturing silkscreened flaws around rollover area?
thanks

#12 8 years ago

ok. so these white spots on the pf are effectively manufacturing flaws. i have checked it with some pics of other pins.

As was stated, I was involved pretty closely with the information dissemination for the BBB project. There were many challenges in the production of that machine. The end results were nothing short of stunning. It was a long project but it was an amazing one. Congrats on owning one!

Plus a thank you to Al for making that great insight to what everyone went through to get this game out the door and shipped,

Anybody who hasn't seen it or has any interest in BBB should buy a copy of it.
Unboxing mine was probably the hugest thrill I've had in this hobby, the quality and fit and finish of these machines are superb its just an incredible testimony to a small group of enthusiasts that worked very hard in making sure it was 100% perfect
