Did an interview with MyBookie.net about betting on pinball. Tried to ask as many questions as I thought the community would like. Here's the interview on Pinball Profile (ep. 209):
Did he answer everything?
If I were one of the many shut out of Pinburgh, I'd probably be putting some $$$ on this year's action!
There you have it folks! We got fantasy, real gambling, and people who say they hate watching it and others are dumb for doing so.
PINBALL IS NOW A REAL SPORT!
No....pinball is now doomed. This confirms it is a gambling device. Hide your guns, hide your pins, and hide your wife. Tax man is coming to get us all for having gambling devices in our homes. Is that what people really want....not good for home ownership of pins if betting on pinball is really a “Thing”. You don’t own a sports team so you can’t even compare it. Poker rooms have popped up all over the place.....they charge a membership fee but take none of the winnings so that’s how they skirt the law. So now hosting in home tournaments could be perceived as gambling....this is a Pandora’s box you do not want opened. Don’t think it can’t happen if the government thinks they can get money out of it. And why wouldn’t they think there is money for the taking when people own multiple games that cost 5-10K each......
And as much as some may want it to be a sport it is definitely not. A game of skill/chance for sure but that’s it.
