I'm shopping my slick chick and am replacing all of the old light sockets and soldering fresh wire braid between them. I'm creating little burn marks when I solder. While they can't be seen when playing the game, they do look amateur. I'm thinking maybe I should place a pice of metal or something under them to prevent the burn, but the metal will absorb heat making the soldering more more difficult. I'm sure I'm not the first who's run into this and am hoping for some tips/tricks.

Pull the staples. If you don't want to pull the staple then you just burn the underside of the PF.

Depends on the game and how im feeling when i do it. =D

Good idea - restaple after soldering instead if before. Thx!

There is a Teflon paper you could use as well

What are you using for heat? A soldering pencil will require more time at each joint than a Solder Gun. With ample heat, you should be able to flow solder fast enough to not scorch the gray paint.

Just a thin strip of aluminum flashing will do ya.

(maybe even a beer can strip ?)

A thin wall tile works well.
