I've been using new 555 sockets with flexible black wires without solder. Got the idea from Ed Cheung. Once they pass through the pop, secure them to a hub washer and hex screw on the back side. Connect your ground braid to the hub. I'll wire 2 or 3 pops to the same hub.

This allows the future flexibility of removing the pop assembly without de-soldering.
