Hey guys, recently picked up a Whirlwind. It has close the the nicest original playfield I have seen that isn't Diamond Plated. One issue though, the mylar under the drop ramp is raised slightly at the edge, and some dirt has collected where it is lifted. What is the best way to fix this?

I had thought to just cut it, but wanted to get some opinions before I start.

Thanks!

Bump for the evening crowd.

Perhaps you could get under it enough to get a single sided razer blade in and slide it across while applying tension on the mylar. Kind of hard to explain, like lift the mylar with tweezers or needle nose pliers and kind of pull up but not enough to remove or anything, then lay the blade on the playfield and slide it to cut...That way you aren't cutting into the playfield.

I agree the easiest route would be using some needle nosed pliers and an exacto knife to cut off edge not lying flat. Take it slow and be careful and it should be pretty simple.

Thanks guys, will give it a shot.

How'd it go?

I always razor off those areas, it works great.

What is your process for razor ing? I'm afraid to slice into the wood!

Lay the razor blade flat on the pf, lift up mylar and slide the blade sideways starting on one edge of the mylar. That will slice off the mylar your lifting. You want to "slice" not "cut".
