Agree with all the above comments - particularly the point of playing as many games as you can to see what you like.
In my short time with EM's (10 years) I have owned a number of games that are or have been considered 'hot' that I really wasn't crazy about (Abra Ca Dabra, Jack's Open, Royal Flush, Spin A Card) - don't get me wrong, I liked them and if I had unlimited room may still have them. But.... key is to play them and see what you like.
Other thought is don't be intimidated by games needing some repair/cleanup (obviously not counting trashed games), I've come to realize the that doing a full cosmetic tear down, shopping and mechanical cleanup might even be my favorite part of the hobby. It's very rewarding to see a game come back to it's glory.
Finally, if you are going to get (only) 2 games I would recommend looking for some variety (e.g. Sequence vs. Drop Target, Roto Target vs. Swinging Target, 2" vs. 3" flipper, etc.). Not a 'must' but it does keep the play fresher.
Enjoy the journey! If you weren't 1,500 miles away I would say come on over and try out my games!
