I'd say Fathom is at the top. One of those backglasses that rises above, and that I would love to own without the game.

My runners up:

Viper
Paragon
Barracora
Mata Hari

HH gets my vote. It just has that nostalgic Halloween feel to it.

#56 7 years ago

I think Minstrel Man has a real cool look about it.

Both Fathom and Viper are equally rad.

I like these 4 from 1950.

I picked up a Gottlieb Dragon a couple weeks back and really dig the art package! Such vivid colors. Big fan of Gordon Morrison's art in general.

Put them at the bottom of the hamper, no one will notice.

That Maddison Square Gardens looks like is has some pretty cool backbox features. A little Pre-DMD look into the future?

#68 7 years ago

One of Gottlieb's best.

Here you go. My exact game - this is the image I supplied to the Dutch pinball magazine Spinner.

No doubt Viper is #1, but a close second is the greatest game of all time!

Always liked the seldom mentioned Totem, great Gordon Morrison artwork, great colors, and very nicely used mirroring.

Sorcer is my favorite 80's backglass. Of the more modern games I like both XMen LE backglasses (best of the Sterns in my view, and their last real backglass I believe).

#79 7 years ago

The Mermaid in post reply #21, I'd sure like to see a video of the movement in the backglass (if there is any).

#80 7 years ago

Modern era, Avatar an xmen Le magnito version.

Paul Farris made most of my favorite backglasses. That guy is just amazing and I would own a machine just because he did the art on it.

Another reason to love Fathom. Here's the back story on the diver...

Lectronamo is a beauty, mirrored.

Quoted from fordtudoor:

The best backglasses of all time were any done by David "Mad Dog" Christensen. His favorite is "Mata Hari". I'm partial to "Nitro Groundshaker" and "Old Chicago".

You can't like just one of his.....

Ground Shaker, Wizard, Captain Fantastic, Fireball and Old Chicago to name a few. All are great. If I could only have one, it would have to be Old Chicago since that's where Bally was founded and prospered.

Whaaaat!? Where is that from? Too cool.

Certainly one of the best ones is Bad Cats - animated part like from the 60's and modern art from he 80's. What a great combination!

A good one indeed. Another interesting thread about Bad Cats backglass:

I've always thought Starlight was nice.

Ok, after seeing a Star Light and Sorcerer side by side at Expo, I'm changing my vote to Sorcerer.

Both great games though. Thanks to whoever brought them.

That Spirit backglass at Expo was pretty fricken cool!
