Doing first playfield tear down. I'm wondering what tools are best for post screws?

Do you use a deep socket that can fit over entire post screw? (this would be ideal I think but can't find 1/4" one deep enough)

Or a Pal nut removal tool (I have one but using is slow)?

Or 1/4" ratcheting wrench or just regular wrench?

    Something else?

    (thanks)

My deep socket will not fit. I just use a regular wrench.

The small pouch of open end wrenches.

The free 4 in 1 give away at harbor freight works great.

The Klein 6-in-1 long grip is the ONLY tool to have (if you're going to have just one tool!) It's simply the best 6-1 tool out there, and it's available at Home depot in the electrical tool department. They also make a shorter version. Don't get that one. Get the long version not the short one.

The 6-in-1 has two phillips, two flat head, 1/4" nut driver and 5/16" nut driver. It's the perfect tool for installing/removing the post that was identified in the first post.

    Ignition wrenches.

I've always use a 1/4" drive deep socket. Snap-On 1/4" is part number STM8. Attached to a driver it's way faster than a wrench.

Thanks for all the informative posts!

I decided to get a 1/4" deep drive socket today for my ratchet wrench and found one at PartSource for $5 CDN (DeWALT). Post screw fits inside perfectly.

Max Axess sockets are nice, even if there is a foot of threaded rod sticking from the nut, the rod passes through the socket and ratchet.

Just a heads up that even if you find a deep drive socket that looks like the one I posted a picture of above, this does not mean that the top of the post will fit inside far enough to work (some will fit inside and others won't). I have another socket that looks exactly the same and cannot be used for this purpose as inner openings have different diameters.

I concur with that, I drilled mine out, problem solved.
