I've seen the Hulk LE's selling for $6700, and I would expect a decent amount of savings on the Blue edition, given that the blue edition doesn't have a different color DMD and is not as hyped as the green hulk edition, right?

Interested what you think the Avengers Blue should sell for?

And if you know of a good price from a distributor, please let me know. Any price quotes are between me and the actual dealer. Give me a deal!

Where did you see Hulk LE's for that price? Best I saw was $7k.

#3 11 years ago

7k is delivered. I bet he found one at that price if took it out of there but thats still very good.

#4 11 years ago

$7000 was the price including shipping.

Beat ya!

Why no love for the Blue? Just because there is no Blue DMD?
Maybe just me, but I liked the Blue Avengers better. (tho might have to get a Blue DMD)

I heard blue dmds don't work right. Could that be the reason?

I've got a Blue DMD in my Avatar..it works great & it's awesome! That being said - I think red DMD would look fine on the Blue-trimmed Avengers. Blue/Red - Captain America colors.

Blue DMDs cost more...that's the reason. Period.

I call BS on Hulk at $6700 you wont find any at that price or even 7k anymore. The blue are just as sought after now.. they will not be less.

So no grid lines? I'd love one, but $500 is too steep and the red looks awesome anyway.

The blue filter pinbits sells is supposed to reduce the grid lines quite a bit for the blue DMD.

I never said I can get one right now for $6700, but when I was shopping around a few weeks ago just about every dealer quoted $7K delivered. Read what I said . I COULD HAVE gotten the Hulk for that, so I would expect the price to be better for the blue version.

Otherwise I'll wait it out and see just how AV pans out in the long run and maybe get a premium or pro. If a dealer wants to sit on the AV LE blue with the risk of it turing into a Transformers or X-men, it's all good. Could turn into a Tron or BIB LE too.. but I would consider the Blue AV to be more like LTBR- not worth as much if it really is a good game.

Don't believe the hype. The grid lines are still very visible, even with the filter.

Not really. It does effect the sharpness though IMO.

The grid lines are never as visible in photographs. I have a blue display in my Avatar with the Pinbits filter. The grid lines are more visible on my blue display than they are on my AC/DC. Don't get me wrong, I still think the XPin display is awesome, I just don't want people to be under the false impression that the filter makes all the grid lines magically disappear.

So at the end of the day, is blue over red worth the $500? Or if you can defray the cost by selling the red, what's the delta?

Beat me to it...yeah, dunno if Stern's using a different manufacturer than X-Pin, or if grids are just less visible on red vs. blue...no idea. I see gridlines on my 2 Stern red DMDs (Xmen & ACDC), but it's pretty subtle. The gridlines are more visible on my blue DMD in Avatar. However, on THAT game - the tradeoff is worth it since it works with the theme so well... most of the on screen characters are supposed to be blue! If you just want a blue DMD in Avengers to match the trim, it's not worth it IMO. Red's a good "neutral" color and will look fine on that game.

I like the blue better as well. The game is stunning. Find your best price and BUY ONE NOW.

The blue X-Pin display isn't $500, it's $325. You could probably sell your red Stern display for $250 or so, so the upgrade would be less than $100.

I believe Vishay makes a $500 LED DMD with no visible grid pattern. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a blue version.

Thanks. Good info. Well see. Red does look good.

#24 11 years ago

Either are simply awesome looking games. I would get a blue with no problem.
