I purchased a Fish Tales in amazing shape for $2,100 (but you can easily find a players example for under $2K) and a nice players TFTC for $1,800. I absolutely love both machines, and I would recommend each in that price range.

World Cup Soccer would be an awesome first pin too. They can be had in that range.

You're talking about the 1978 version, yes?

For sub 2k games, I'd pick either a JM or maybe a DE title, like TFTC or JP.

Great choices.

no, WCS can easily be found in 2k range.

I passed on a player that needed love for 1400 a few months back.

That would be a good family frienldy game and kids tend to like it even if they dont like soccer.

They can't be easily found for 2k. Just not happening.

I"ve seen them for sale all over, but rarely 2k or less.

15 sales in past 6 months on ebay with avg of $2063. That tells anyone that even on ebay at least half have gone for under 2k...

I have seen plenty for sub 2k. Easily for little effort.

JP gets my vote for best bang for the buck. Deepest ruleset, best toy, family friendly, great dmd animation, shaker motor that actually makes sense, fun all around.

I was under the impression that JM sells for a higher amount than WCS (on average), though I haven't taken the time to actually dig up hard numbers.

I totally agree with your DE suggestion though.

JM is about the same as WCS lately.

Very nice looking example of JM advertised for 1800 last week.

World cup soccer:

For all the casual players that play at my house - with 16-18 machines, everyone gravitates towards world cup soccer. WCS seems to be the full package for the casual folks if you don't mind the theme. It also makes a good tournament game when set up correctly for the competitive player.

edit: I also have Jurassic park, the layout, magnet, goalie toy and flow for me on WCS puts JP at a close second.

ES is a Decent Pin .. I bought this 1 for $ 400.00 ,, i had to do a lil work 2 it ,, not Bad tho

#64 8 years ago

Dr. Dude is very under rated imo
You can find one for under 2k

#65 8 years ago

There are a lot of great games in that range. The two you're looking at, Jack*BOT and Dredd, are a couple of my favorites. Go play both of those and decide between the two.

Message me links to sub 2k WCS94 pins. And I'm not talking about beaters needing new ramps etc.

I've also seen a sub 2k wcs94, but it needed a new head and boards.

#67 8 years ago

A local guy here just posted a nice WCS for $1650 (not on Pinside).

#68 8 years ago

BSD, if you can find one.10c1bc50cf84401d9b5b284d7961dbbe.jpg

Are you looking to buy or just don't believe me and you want me to validate?

#71 8 years ago

JM is by far the best in that price range.

#72 8 years ago

T2 would be my choice. If I wasn't focused on putting money aside for more of my AAA choices I'd have it already.

Was looking for proof.

I know they're out there, but you made/make it seem sub 2k wcs are all over the place, which I don't think they are.

Let's drop it. Who cares anyway. It's 5 pm. Time for a beer.

If you want proof, then use the easiest (and already inflated) ebay data which is tracked at boston pinball.

With 15 sales and an avg price of ~2k, that is all the proof you need that you can easily find them under 2k. Other proof is my word of ones I have passed on which were all functional and less than 2k. WCS is simply an deasy title to find fully functional for under 2k with a little searching and they are sold on a regular basis. Go over to the WCS club thread and see how many people have picked one up in the past few months.

Beer time in 1hr for me

I should be looking for in my price range ($1,500-$2,000)?

Quoted from tomh52722:

I have been talking to a really nice person with Judge Dredd

Quoted from Astropin:

I really liked the music in JD.....more than most!

Quoted from BLACK_ROSE:

JD is a Killer Pin .. I've owned it 3 tymes and Would again

Judge Dredd is a $1400 game folks.

Quoted from Blackbeard:

No, 1994, I've seen them go for 1800 bucks, I had one I would have valued around that. It would have to be really nice to go for 2500 like I see them listed.

#77 8 years ago

Fish Tales hands down!

#78 8 years ago

Here's my 2c:

You sound like you'll probably enjoy almost any game so just look at what becomes available in your price range in your area.

For your first game you should buddy-up with a local pinhead to help you ensure you're getting a good deal and not buying a lemon.

Honestly I LOVE BSD...one of my favorites. But if it was my first and only pin I probably would have walked away from the hobby. Difficult game..brutal sometimes and hard to maintain. Just my honest opinion. Good luck with whatever you get and enjoy. Lots of good advice here.

Would you ever let yours go for $1,500-$2,000? I'd be the first in line if you did! What an awesome game for the price. I would imagine it getting frustrating as a stand-alone pin, but it'd be rocking in a small collection for sure.

#81 8 years ago

Go T2 if you can....easy to play...easy to work on...kids won't have a problem getting multi-ball....great music...and Arnie for crying out loud....and an easy re-sell.....good luck.......Joey

No way, BSD isn't going anywhere. As I said, I love the pin! It just kicks my ass sooo much If it was my only pin it would frustrate me out of the hobby...plus the difficulty in maintaining makes it a poor choice for a first and only.

Quoted from too-many-pins:

We have owned well over 100 machines in the past few years and there are - or have been - only a hand full of machines I would never sell. On that list and on the low end of your price range would be Pin-Bot and Mousin Around. Both are lots of fun - kid friendly - lots of shots and everyone seems to enjoy both. On the high end of your price range Whirlwind is another game with lots of stay power.
Of all the machines I have had and sold the one I regret selling the most is Space Shuttle - fun game - great art - and just a nice all around machine with a nice look. I just bought two more to make a nice one from two machines to get it back into my line up.
So my vote would be Pin-Bot first, Whirlwind second (if you can find a nice one under $2000), Space Shuttle 3rd and Mousin Around would be my 4th choice of the 100 or machines I have had.

i would take this guys advice. those are 4 great AND realistic choices for your price range

#84 8 years ago

BSD is really similar to IM, but for half the price. It's actually hard to pick a bad B/W game for under 2k, if you find one in the right condition.

#85 8 years ago

My vote is for Johnny Mnemonic.

#86 8 years ago

It's worth mentioning that if you're patient, for $2k you could actually get two of the more common System 11 (alphanumeric) titles. They may need some cleaning, but I've seen High Speed, Pinbot, and F14 all under $1k with some frequency. I prefer Getaway to High Speed, and prefer JackBot to Pinbot, but I'd probably take the two system 11 games over either one of the DMD games if I was dropping my first $2k into pinball. Space Station would be another good option in the two-for-$2k range.

There is some gotleib games in that price range. Well built machines easy to keep them going. Not a lot of maintenance.
