Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:STLE looked like "garbage" when it came out too. Worst art ever. SM rehash. Blah blah blah. And that's not my opinion. That was Pinside talking in its "anger/denial" phase.
Nope. That's how I feel about it...right now. I just think that the name on the translite and the style of the designer carry a lot more sway than people like to admit.
Quoted from EchoVictor:There's a black '85 SVO (with your aforementioned 4-cyl turbo) pictured over the upper RH corner of the insert matrix.
Yeah, and a 97 in the upper left. Still doesn't explain why they aren't in the matrix themselves. Should there really be a 68 fastback AND a 69 Boss 302 AND a 70 Mach 1? The Mach 1 name isn't really associated It looks weird going from 1970 to 2000, almost as though nothing happened in the interim. They could have them start as regular versions, and have upgrades lead to high-powered versions. So you'd start with a 1984 LX, then you upgrade the engine, drive train and brakes to move to a Turbo GT. Finally, upgrading all seven things after that would get you an SVO.
