Easy, The Black Knight, Sword of Rage topper from Stern.

Quoted from alexanr1:I would agree that color DMD’s are a good add, I just can’t justify the cost and don’t believe you would ever get it back out when you sell.
You WILL get the vast majority of the money back no problem. If buyer doesnt want it just put the old DMD back and sell the ColorDMD by itself. They always sell for about $50 less then new.
Quoted from alexanr1:...and don’t believe you would ever get it back out when you sell.
Well you obviously haven't done much research becasue they do hold value.
Really missing out on a machine like W?D which has some of the best dots ever
I'd probably do the tail light mod on Creech if I had one
https://revolutionarypinball.com/proddetail.php?prod=cftbl_tlm
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:That mod is legendary. It’s out of production, right? It really is a must-have for Tron
You've always been allowed to make your own TRON arcade mod, although it helps to do a batch with friends because of the laser cut parts. http://pinhacks.com/tron_materials.html
Quoted from jawjaw:OCD boards.
I bought one but haven’t put it in yet. Hoping it’s as good as advertised!
Quoted from mmuglia:Color DMD in a CV. With the DMD next to the playfield, it's a must!

Wow! Super nice. This one’s on my wish list.
Quoted from TheLaw:Well you obviously haven't done much research becasue they do hold value.

You will have to share the research you have done. My comment was I don’t believe. Would love to see the data.
In all honesty, it’s hard to say an of the mods hold their value.

I just did, they really do hold their value. And no one has ever accused me of liking mods too much

Really of any mod, I think this is the only one where you can raise the price of your machine almost dollar for dollar and get it back without a fuss from a buyer or even when trading in to a distributor. Pretty much every other mod is money down the drain because they don’t have the almost universal appeal of a color dmd.
In agreement with many mentioned, except for most of the toppers.
One I did not see mentioned is for RFM. Overhauling the game by replacing the original PC and monitor to LCD running Pinbox/Nucore. Opens the game up to new software, features and graphic details. A true enhancement to this game.
Quoted from PinRob:What is the best mod that you have ever seen? What is the best mod for specific machines?
Adding flippers to games in the 40s
I think of a topper as an accessory and the Black Knight topper and Wh20 are some of the best pinball accessories.
In terms of the best mod ever I would nominate Swinks new Ghostbusters interactive proton mod. What makes it the best mod? Well what other mod is interactive and affects actual gameplay? Usually it is blasphemy to have a mod affect gameplay but this is a special circumstance. This mod was originally designed for the game but was scraped because of budgetary purposes. It is a proton beam ball saver with an interactive foot pedal for control like the GB trap in movies. Swinks is an engineering genius and his talents speak for themselves. He now is working on an interactive software program that may tie in with the mod. Super cool imo and if you have not heard about it or read about it-check it out...

My second favorite mod is probably the Tron arcade mod playing the Tron arcade game on loop. I always show my guest what I have done to my Tron and they all appreciate the modifications.
Tron Arcade mod (resized).jpg
Runners up include: LOTR Palantir mod, Hooked interactive tach gauge tied into spinner, Tim's Jurassic Park interactive gate, Led Zeppelin lit Hermit mod-helped collaborate with LER Mods on, Cleland's TWD and GB audio download(really does transform the game), Tron ramp mod from Eli, and I also want to mention Super Bands. Super Bands modify the way the game plays and help tremendously with ball control.

I would also nominate a Polk PSW10 but I consider that an accessory as well.
Does Pin Monk's quiet fan kit for Stern power supplies count as a mod? If so, I vote for that. Damn things sound like a hairdryer without it.

For home use these are great. I just bought 2 more to install in my AIQ and JDJP
Quoted from DarthSinex:Opening chest mod for JJP POTC
+1
This mod restores a key gameplay feature that JJP's POTC was originally supposed to have.
So cool to see the treasure chest open and light to signal it's ready to accept a ball to be locked, and so satisfying to hit the shot (from either flipper) and then see the lid close again.
My thanks to all the Pinsiders involved in developing this mod!
The one mod I have on every pin of mine is PDI/Invisiglass etc. Hands down makes the biggest difference to game play.
I have pinstadiums on a few and dig the result... but know such comments draw the ire of many on here, so I'll keep that to myself.
If you own any Stern Star Wars model, then restoring the long lost, Midnight Madness Multi-ball feature is probably the best mod ever.
Quoted from mrm_4:Adding flippers to games in the 40s
Yeah, my old '47 Mexico would have been terrible without that mod.
Quoted from Only_Pinball:You WILL get the vast majority of the money back no problem. If buyer doesnt want it just put the old DMD back and sell the ColorDMD by itself. They always sell for about $50 less then new.
Plus if you have one the 4 jumbo DMD games, after you sell your working original DMD it's almost like getting a ColorDMD for half off. What a deal.
Quoted from RyanStl:Yeah, my old '47 Mexico would have been terrible without that mod.
Thanks, i was going to say, if no one recognizes Flippers being added to games as the best mod ever in this thread something is majorly wrong
