Quoted from RatShack:If you manage to clog a <1 mm tip you're not going to be drilling it out.
I did all the time.
Put the tip in a vice or just hold it steady. Run the 1.0mm tip cleaning drill (i had the hakko made wand holder). Smack / blow the black crud out. Run the poker/push rod through and if it is still rough drill again.
The 1.0mm drill bit and holder is a must. It really should come with the unit. Just the push rod does not keep the small tip clean.
1.3mm and bigger and i don't seem to ever need to drill those.
Right now my Hakko FR300 is not working. Neither is my 808. Both need full pump rebuilds. The flux in solder ends up eating up the rubber bits breaking seals and making clogs.
The little gasket thingy in the pump needs replaced fairly often too. Specially if you are desoldering stuff with nasty rosin flux. Maybe replace it after you go through two packs of filters.
