I've been through a decent number of machines, nearly all being reasonably priced.
Demo Man is probably the best game that can be realistically had for 2k.. good call outs, incredible flow, decent depth and fills the DMD requirement of young nerds.. of course, for me Taxi is the best pin ever built, so that's the best deal in pinball.
JM is a snore pin, crappy call outs, worst video mode of all time and the nap time glove is beyond the last nail in the coffin, it's tapping the dirt down.
A few years ago The Shadow would've been undisputed king of the 2k hill, but that train left the two grand station and hasn't looked back. (still.. in the justifiable range vs Wh2o, which commands stupid money)
BSD deserves mention but i think it's too hard for average joe to be a great pin to anyone but pinballers with a good bit of flipper skill.
FT deserves runner up.. can be found under 2k, approachable and playable for new guys, but very difficult to accomplish super jackpot which keeps the skilled player happy.

I think that FT is as fun as an anal wart, and that JM is probably the best game Gomez ever made, and probably one of the best Williams ever made.

See how opinions are?

I like Fish Tales so i will not say anything . But fun as a anal wart just cracks me up.Thats some funny shit!

Where are working BSD or Shadow for under 2k? I could use a lead on one of those please!

I think what he meant was "For under 2k, you could also get some early 80's Bally or Stern pins." - not "For under 2k, you could get TS/BSD or also 80's Bally or Stern pins."

Working TS and BSDs are in the land where 5 headed unicorns reside -.- ...

TFTC.... one just sold here on pinside /ebay for $2K... that game is way underrated. had one before - sold it as I had to make space.. if I had space back for $2K for a decent one that is what I would fill the space with!!!

Hmmm, I don't recall Terry having any 5 headed unicorns at the Pinball Life Open House where I sold a fully working beater BSD for 1900.

I'd seriously consider a T2. It's not super deep in the rules department, it's true, but it's decent enough to enjoy playing and making shots, and it's basically the exact same layout of one of the best pins of all time, AC/DC. Get good on a T2 and you'll probably become a better AC/DC player.

More importantly, it's not one of those BS "under $2000" pins that you can't actually find for that price. $1800 T2s are still totally common, they made a ton, they're not hard to find.

Watch this and see if you're interested, it's a pretty good way to see what's what:

Wow! The PAPA video upgrades are awesome with the DMD, low and top angles .... and Kerwin describes and plays the games with his great unique style.

Yeah, PAPA is killing it now, they have this down to a science.

Demo man, FT, SST, are my choices, RFM for $2k doubtful it's very nice...

Quoted from Whysnow:

They certainly are not here. All the newbs on here think their BSD is a 3k+ pin and their STTNG pins are 4k+. Prices have gotten out of hand IMO and I feel sorry for the true hobbiests that have entered the hobby over the past 3 to 4 years and spent stupid money on all the inflaited titles.... BUT there are BSD's out there for 2k. Just have to be patient! Have to do some searching as well, they are not going to bite you in the arse. MB MM CC AFM were all at one point double the price of a JM or JD or RS or BSD or whatever but the hype around the big name pins has made them 4 times as much if not more. I am lucky to have some good titles that I waited to find instead of jumping on the closest fastest one to buy. And I have also made some decent trades with others in the hobby, friends!

I would say monopoly or Jurassic Park

I have to agree, I don't think I've seen a RFM that cheap in recent years

#127 10 years ago

Dirty Harry gets no love, but I like it. I like the rules and it has plenty of modes and hurryups. They can get picked up on the cheap. Guess the artwork turns some people off?

Here's a working (but "player condition") BSD for $1800, appears to have been available for a little while now:

I've never played a BSD with working Mist Multiball. I'm not in the market, but seeing it in action on Youtube makes me want one.

#131 10 years ago

I used to hate BSD only b/c of how blue/red it was. Then Jonny O taught me how it plays and now I love it. Well except that one that was at CAX last year with the tiny ass flippers (smaller than the lighting that come with it
