100% agreed. These bulbs are awesome and make the original art pop. All I use is white now, never again with the "skittle" look.

Quoted from joekiss:

I have been messing with the LED light for a few years and have tried many different options. After much trial and error I like Arts 2smd frosted natural white bulbs for all lights. I tried doing Blue for DM and T2, green for TFTC, etc and got tired of it quickly. The colored LEds really take from the different colors of the PF art. Im redoing all of my machines with the exact same bulbs. The ones I have done look great. They are very well worth the extra money.

Done correctly I think they can all look better.....of course done wrong they can ruin a game.

The biggest improvement I ever noticed was going to Cointakers Premium Getaway Kit.....it was like having a new Getaway. Pictures really don't do it justice though.

That shadow turned out great! I like the Aurich's translite. It is so much better than the original.

There are a bunch of pretty ugly games in this thread I don't want to call out. But we've seen 3 pretty great looking F-14s, that game is a frontrunner.

There is a lot of personal preference when it comes to LEDs. Lots of people hate machines with any LEDs. I prefer to used coloured bulbs in my GI, but I know a lot of people think it looks terrible unless they are white. Whatever makes the owner happy.

#66 4 years ago

True....it's why we don't offer game specific kits..... (We have universal kits of 250 plus bulbs, so any combination is possible). Everyone's taste is different, and more exciting to me to see
all the variety, even if its not my taste.

I don't think these photograph well. I know the pics I've taken of my lit pins (with or without LEDs) don't do them justice.

#68 4 years ago

Turn off your flash, put your camera on a tripod, open up the aperture (that means set the lowest f/number your camera lens will do) and shoot.

If your camera has a WB setting in the menu (White Balance), set it, and the colors will come out great.

I wish I had the means to photograph my pins properly to capture how they really look. But, I'm stuck with my digital phone camera. Do they still make film cameras?

Most of my pictures have been with my S4. It is a struggle to get a decent picture. I found taking the glass off helps. Luckily, I was given a real camera, so I can try experimenting with it.

Those Shadows with leds are both very very nice! Congrats!

Don't forget that clicking on a pic will show it in a clearer resolution.

My opinion is anything with a futuristic or space theme looks great with LED's, done right of course. I really like a nicely done Black Hole.

Thanks daddyxxx!

POTC was a fun project. Have to thank niftyleds.com for their Aqua LEDs. Used them from the flippers and moved upward with darker blue LEDs to give the effect of beach transparent ocean water to the deep blue sea. nothing like working with pins and getting just the right lighting effect to make it a unique game experience!

I know it's not the caliber of some of the games here but here's my modified Gottlieb black cabinet Mars, God of War that I got ready for PAGG a couple of years ago. It features 7 digit displays, programed quick boot with free play option, headset jack (with volume control and speaker cut off switch), custom Mind Orbit alternating red/orange LED plunger, alternating red/orange LED flippers, custom dimable LED light boards to replace all bulb sockets, NOS playfield, NOS plastic set, NOS red drop targets & NOS instruction cards. All moving mechanical parts were replaced with new ones.
