One of my favorites is potc or acdc, what your favorites

Fish Tales

#3 8 years ago

Fishtales if definitely one of the best for a light show

#4 8 years ago

It really depends upon the LEDs used.

I've seen the same game done different ways, and one way may look fantastic, but another way may look awful.

#6 8 years ago

Cointaker non ghosting is my favorite, definitely have to have good taste on colors, some pins come out awesome and others not so much

My Congo looks pretty damn sweet decked with led's.

the shadow an junkyard, getaway makes a huge difference to...

The Getaway. When it's loaded with LED, and you hit Jackpot, especially Super Jackpot, the light show vaporizes the room.

#16 8 years ago

Bride of Pinbot.

#17 8 years ago

acdc, metallica, and i kinda like ironman with mostly all cool whites

#18 8 years ago

Wwh20 mostly all blue frosteds

Jackpots are so awesome in Getaway. My other game, ST, has the best stock light show period IMO. ACDC is a close second. For older games, Shadow looks fantastic - at least in pics.

What do you consider "done right" for DM? I've been slowly working with mine, first replacing some existing ones I didn't like, and now starting to expand into replacing incandescent. I'm interested in hearing what's worked for others.

#21 8 years ago

LEDs brighten up an otherwise dark pin. I added quite a few LEDs to Cyclone last night, which made a remarkable difference. It had looked rather dull sitting next to its more luminous kin.

I don't like most games with colored GI, but I like Demo Mans that are mostly very cool white or light blue. You start adding in too many reds and purples and you can make it look like a mess, at which point I'd say just use white.

A must do to Demo Man is to add 3-7 led natural white strips from Comet LED's to the girder windows in the back . Also install Ice Blue led's in the Freeze inserts . Makes a huge improvement !

Nice! That must all be color matched, including the backbox GI, right?

We will hopefully be having a new method of adding lighting accessories coming out real soon......neat Stuff.

I think F-14 and Terminator 2 look great with LEDs. F-14's light show is great.

Ooh, yeah, that does look good. The one I got came with two greens and a purple in the freeze inserts, a purple in the retina scan insert, purples for the stand-up target lights, and some purples as GI under the inlane dividers. I've already updated the freeze inserts to blue (not ice blue, may go that route), stand-up lights to yellow, and have some cool white to replace the purple GI. I'll see how those look when deciding how much ice blue vs cool white to use elsewhere. Also put bright blue flashers in the scaffolding, which looks *so much* better.

I did put red GI in the back right corner, both under the rollover lane dividers, and along the back. Starting to feel that it's too much, and I may switch out the ones in the back with cool white, and just leave the ones under the dividers.

It's kind of fun to play with the lighting and see what you can come up with to make a machine look good.

I would have kept my Shadow, if I would have known how to led like that!
Now I am tied to ready-made kits, still don't know how to make it nice by myself.

#38 8 years ago

Lah is nice with led because the theme is over top.
At the houston expo last year, wh20 and af looked really nice.
The jd at tpf this year was beautiful.
Bsd is good but most go kind of overboard.

#39 8 years ago

My phone doesn't take the best pics but here is my JD and GLIMG_20150713_201304_373.jpgIMG_20150713_201304_373.jpgIMG_20150620_212457_743.jpgIMG_20150620_212457_743.jpg

One joy of kits, its not having to put any thought into bulbs.
The negative of kits is not having to put any thought into bulbs.

I respect that kits do this, and in some cases, really quite well, but in others, our eyes see differently.

My analogy is if everyones Christmas tree looked identical.

Its really quite easy, once a few steps are learned to do Advanced Lighting.

Decide on brightness.
Start with the whole GI in the white color of choice.
Color match all inserts, and in mid to low brightness, Warm White for yellow.
Choose whatever color you wish for white inserts.

Tweaking.

Change any GI bulb too bright in a small plastic, to one brightness lower
Change any GI bulb in a large area, like the back, to a brighter bulb.
Change a couple for color, and see if you like.
Change any insert thats larger, to a brighter bulb to fill the insert fully with light.

I know this is extra work, but after doing it just once, one wont have to ever do it this way.
Dont be afraid to mix bulbs.
Frosted is always safe, because one can go brighter.

Respectfully, a kit, even our universal kit is all one bulb type, but when $200 is spent on one game kit, to do
one game, we can offer Twice the bulbs for the same, and one can learn to master real fast.

Never any harm in tinkering, and trying a few bulbs to see whats best.

With a kit, if you are doing only one game, its not a bad idea.
If you think youll be doing many, having a selection, some samples, is a good thing to have some extra around,
and an average game can be done for around $100.

I have done multiple machines with Art's bulbs and I don't think I could ever do a kit. I like the customization, but it is a lot of trial and error. It's totally worth it in the end, unless of course you want the machine to have a more "stock" look.

#42 8 years ago

every machine looks better with LED, even EM (Go warm white). One machine in particular that really benefits is space station with some really strong green secondary GI when the space lock mode starts up and it fades from the main GI.

TOTAN : Color matched for the most part . The Bazaar inserts are white . I changed then to green !! The 13 'lighting lamp inserts are teal. This was my first LED conversion I ever did . At the time I could not find Teal the came in a Flex style as 3 or four inserts needed to be Flex style LEDs so I used blue . The ' Golden Symbol ' inserts are incandescent . LEDs changed the color to yellow . So I used incandescent to keep the color ' Golden ' . The Back box are mix of 555 incandescent and LED . Blue LEDs behind the Evil Genie and Blue 906 flasher . If any one cares . Here is a link to my TOTAN 'Back Box' conversion . https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/totan-led-back-box-conversion

I have been messing with the LED light for a few years and have tried many different options. After much trial and error I like Arts 2smd frosted natural white bulbs for all lights. I tried doing Blue for DM and T2, green for TFTC, etc and got tired of it quickly. The colored LEds really take from the different colors of the PF art. Im redoing all of my machines with the exact same bulbs. The ones I have done look great. They are very well worth the extra money.
