I am bringing an EBD Deluxe back to life. I was going to stay with incandescent bulbs thru out. However, now that I have the lights up and running, I do not like the amount of heat given off by the incandescent bulbs in the target pool balls/ Deluxe insert area of the play field. I am concerned about the impact the amount of heat will have on the play field paint, which is actually in pretty good shape on this game. So , I am going to want to use LEDs in this area to keep the play field itself cooler.I have an Allteck light board on order.

I am keeping the game as original as possible , so I will be staying with the 555 light sockets. Yes, I know they are a PITA. I was wondering the best brand of LED’s to use with the classic Bally 555 socket. The coin takers , I have laying around are very tough to fit into the socket housing due to the configuration of the LED plastic base. Are there any other brands out there that fit into the 555 base in an easier fashion.
Thanks,
Sully

I use pinball life warm frosted premium bulbs they look great in old classics. I put them in the GI , back box and inserts. Close to incandescent as I have tryed.

Thanks,

Did you put them in the original 555 sockets?

How did they fit? The ones I have are too large at the base/ wedge of the LED

Comet

So Comets fit the classic Bally 555 sockets?

Comet leds dont fit better than Cointakers. I usually sand the base edges off a bit with fine grit sandpaper.
