Thinking about adding something different to my collection. I've always been a DmD guy and my oldest game is a 1992. I've been thinking about adding something from an older era with a completely different feel. I have looked at the top rated list and some games like Fathom jump out at me. What games would you recommend that would be a good change up from todays fast games but still has a decent rule set and will not get old to fast?

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. I know someone in my area with a haunted house. I'll try to get over to his place and try it out sometime soon.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. It's really cool to see so much passion for some of the older games that don't always get much love.

Well it took a while but I finally found a couple of games. I bought a WNBJM several months ago as sort of a bridge the gap game and really have enjoyed it. So when I found these 2 games at TPF I decided they needed to come home with me

I have an Eight Ball Deluxe that is going to get restored and will be in the lineup by late summer or so. After that Flash Gordon, Fathom, and Paragon are high on my want list. Probably will add one of those and I'll have a nice lineup of 4 79-81 games.

Quoted from Captive_Ball:

Is that the Embryon from this years TPF that was restored? I'm guessing by the topper it is likely.

Yes, I purchased it from Keith Holbrook at the show.

He does fantastic work, congratulations on that nice score. Very reasonably priced. I felt very privileged to play that Embryon and Fathom in his both at TPF....will most likely never play examples that nice ever again, unless he does one for me.

Both were super nice games and I was extremely lucky to get the embryon for the price I did. He's got my EBD right now for restore, can't wait to get it back. I'll bring him my Fathom when I come to get the EBD.

Quoted from snyper2099:

It's not fair to lump TAF in with Harlem Globetrotters. I mean how do they have ANYTHING at all to do with each other, other than BOTH being 4 player pinball machines with 3 pop bumpers?

I don't think they even have that in common, thought TAF has 5 pops

The obsession continues to grow

Hope you have room to put that EBD in there too

Another DMD may have to hit the road.

That picture I posted is a great example of why so many people stick with incandescent bulbs in these games. Poor Fathom looks a little washed out compared to the other 3. Xenon has LED's in the GI but they are comet warm white which look a lot better then what is in Fathom. I'm going to have to change those out.

That's a pretty narrow price range. Can't you spend more than $1986 (or less than $1975)?

I have a very strict budget.

I'm going to have to get an old school stern at some point. They look really cool and they play crazy fast.

So what is the go to for early stern games?

All of this EBD love makes me extra excited to get my back from restoration.

Meteor and Big Game for me.

Dang, when someone with 124 classic games speaks you had better listen!!

I like the look of Seawitch a lot. Just haven't had a chance to play one yet.

Time to bring back some Bally love while everyone else squabbles about MG, stern playfields, tbl, etc.

FG is coming home with me from TPF, the others are in the house being enjoyed. Medusa has left the building but the others are still holding strong against modern games.
