Just look at my collection. There is about 50 of them that are excellent.

Quoted from Butterflygirl24:

For about the first 10 years of my collection, all I had was Early SS Williams games. There are soo many great games from the era it is really hard to pick just one...hence why my collections just seems to keep growing. I can't seem to give any of them up! You have System 6 games like Firepower, Blackout, Scorpion, Algar, Gorgar... Then the system7s Black Knight, Solar Fire, Barracora, Warlok, Time Fantasy, Cosmic Gunfight, Star Light (I could name them all but you get where I am going!) System 9s (a bit easier cause there is only 3 basically) Space Shuttle, Sorcerer, Comet. System 11s like High Speed, Pin*Bot, F-14 Tomcat, Taxi...(again lots of choices here) Early Ballys, I am not as familiar with, but Fathom is a Great game! (Really need to get mine back together to take to some shows...) Stern's Star Gazer is one of my favorites...I guess it all just comes down to what you like...My suggestion would be go to some shows (if you are near Pittsburgh try to hit RePlayFX coming up the end of July, the PAPA facility has around 400 games to try so you could get a feel for what you like and would want to add to your collection) or find some collectors in your area and play some of the games you are thinking of, then when you find one that fits your qualifications then the hunt begins...
Good Luck with your hunt!
Phoebe

Great advice right there. You have one of the best collections in the world Phoebe. Just amazing.

I played a Stern Stargazer for the first time recently and thought it was a fun game.

Oh no. It sucks. Seriously bad game play. You can read the reviews of Roger Sharpe in one of the coin meters. Just not fun If you can find an EBD go for it. Plus its a 1981 Bally. Just a better game.

Quoted from jgentry:

Thinking about adding something different to my collection. I've always been a DmD guy and my oldest game is a 1992. I've been thinking about adding something from an older era with a completely different feel. I have looked at the top rated list and some games like Fathom jump out at me. What games would you recommend that would be a good change up from todays fast games but still has a decent rule set and will not get old to fast?

There is no right answer. I own about 50 games that fall into this category. Everyone of them unique and great. Fathom is not a long term keep though I have had a few of them. I want to sell the one I have ....I think...

Maybe Frontier but Geez, ...I have 6 of the 80's Bally in a Row and we play them all cause they are great. Frontier, Mystic, Viking, NGS, Stones, Skateball, but then I can say Paragon. Mata Hari, Eight Ball... on and on.... It will never stop. they all have something.

I would buy 1 and plan on buying 20. Then the classic stern's. Fist, Stargazer, Nineball, Meteor, Ray, Witch, Big Game, My god stop...Quicksilver My fav.).... Then Williams, have to own like 10 of those. Gottlieb...JP, Genie....

Stop the insanity...Stop...

By the way. Solid States are Fast. Stargazer and Fist are like Butter quick....

Quoted from Bay78:

Another vote for Fathom! I'm my opinion this one stands out far more than the rest. However Space Shuttle is pretty close second. Without Space Shuttle we all might not be playing pinball right now!

Actually for 1 to 5 games I don't recommend Fathom. Maybe in a 15 to 20 game collection.

The benefit of Seawitch is pretty reasonable to find. The production numbers don't represent population because of those made in Australia. Only game. probably not. Seawitch with a few others like Fathon and Stingray. Thats a great seaside line up right there. Have all 3 and they are fantastic.
