I figured I would start a best EM pinball artwork thread in response to best back glass artwork thread. It doesn't matter how good or bad the game plays. This is simply about the artwork.

1. 1963 Gottlieb Slick Chick
2. 1967 Gottlieb King of Diamonds
3. 1954 Gottlieb Dragonette
4. 1950 Gottlieb Knock Out
5. 1958 Gottlieb Sittin' Pretty
6. 1975 Gottlieb Atlantis
7. 1966 Gottlieb Hurdy Gurdy (better artwork and color combination than Central Park)
8. 1963 Gottlieb Gigi
9. 1966 Gottlieb Crosstown
10. 1964 Gottlieb Majorettes

Honorable mentions...1975 Gottlieb Abra-Ca-Dabra and 1965 Gottlieb Sky Line

#2 10 years ago

Without really thinking Sky Line is right up there.

#3 10 years ago

I...like many would put C37.

#4 10 years ago

Love "KOD" and "Sky-Line" too. Some of the '60's Ballys are very nice as well. "Harvest"/ "Hay-Ride" is gorgeous.
Really love Bally "Moon Shot" too! Can't pin down (no pun intended) my very favorite one right now, but I'll give it some thought.

#5 10 years ago

My favorite is dragon.

#6 10 years ago

I consider Slick Chicks to have very bad Artwork - pure bad taste. But most won't share my views. Just to say that "best of all time" is subjective...

Besides C37 and Skyline - which I love -, I would add
- Dancing Lady
- Fireball. (Well, for Fireball, it's the backglass which is gorgeous, and you are talking about PF only, right?)

and... Whoa Nelly !!

#7 10 years ago

My pick is any Gordon Morison table from the mid 70s on. Dude was on fire during that time.

Also love Sky-Line, Cross Town, and Sing Along/ Melody.

Too many favorites for me but I will say that Whoa Nelly's Playfield art is great as well and has a nice family theme too!

I recall seeing this game at a show several years ago. Very nice art on this one. Zaccaria "Ski-Jump".

Wow. Thanks for linking to this PF. Some of those Zaccaria machines were just KILLING it on the art package. Beautiful.

Another gorgeous Zac. *more drooling*

Thanks, jrpinball and sanctumwear!

P.S. I always thought that Gottlieb's Sinbad was pretty cool:

I'm partial to Williams Big Daddy, although Joker Poker isn't half bad either.

Not a big fan of the cabinet, and the backglass is good IMO but not up there among the very best, but as far as the playfield goes I think C-37 is awesome.

"Big Daddy"- nice!

Yeah, I prefer playing Atlantis but C37 is definitely a looker.

We'll let that one go, since it's just got more multipliers than Eye of the Tiger!

Yeah, the EM versions of Sinbad don't have bonus multipliers.

Gordon Morison's art is great.

I was afraid there was gonna be some minor differences I wasn't privy to, but the EM versions didn't have a good shot of the whole playfield. Sentiment remains the same, though.

Thanks for the education,

Odin's next quest? It looks like a '50 Knock Out without the ring. I like the roll overs. Looks like a fun game.

Lightning Ball from 1959 is up there because the artwork is almost psychedelic, certainly way ahead of its time.

I've never seen Moon Flight before, that is a beautiful playfield. Might have to put that on my EM wish list...

Yeah, but the backglass shows a guy with boobies and lipstick. At least that's what it looks like to me.
