I didn’t see a a topic on this. I figured it might be fun. Rank the top 5 coded games. This shouldn’t be deepest code. Just the code that perfectly fits the game.

1. Walking Dead - Fits the theme and layout perfectly.
2. Metallica - It’s so versatile. Points based but with mode based wizard mode.
3. Deadpool - So many ways to play it. I don’t think I’ve played two games exactly the same.
4. Dialed In - Quite possibly the best coded mode based game.
5. Batman 66 - so deep and fits the theme.

I’d add LoTR for its depth and innovation. Getting to ring frenzy, playing modes, or going for and completing multiballs are all satisfying and fun especially when you complete them and earn a gift of the elves. Also mini wizard modes as well as one of the hardest to get to final wizard mode. You can see gift of the elves ideas copied in Walking dead’s multikills, Iron Maiden’s Tomb awards, and Dialed In’s SIM cards. Also ring frenzy used in Metallica’s CIU For whom the Bell Tolls mode. LoTR code is still highly influential today.
I agree with Metallica, I like building a couple of hurryups and then using whatever Multiball happens to be closest to starting to collect items to get to crank it up and love the last code update which made all of that easier. Also agree with dialed in Having some of the most satisfying and fun modes in pinball. Also great mini and final wizard modes in that game.

Alice Cooper’s Nightmare Castle is really good the modes are all really unique and different from each other .
Star Trek the Next Generation is really well done , theme integration is fantastic .
Total Nuclear Annihilation , it’s what I consider the poker of pinball .10 minutes to learn , a lifetime to master .
Junkyard , collecting the junk to build stuff to open modes and eventually go to space is a cool idea I always enjoy playing junkyard .
Medieval Madness the goals peasants, damsel , trolls etc can be collected and build towards their multiball madness . Added with the goal of destroying castles and getting to the battle for the kingdom . It is just really well done and always fun to play .

JJP’s Hobbit - super creative use of mechs, diverter, pop ups, and TONs of theme integration with stuff from the movie.

Each mode is very different from the previous one, and there are 30+ in all. Games go from fairly slow and smooth to total chaos in a matter of seconds. Mini-wizard modes are craziness but staged and manageable with practice. And the killing of Smaug is one of the highlights of any game ever

Flash Gordon has awesome, compact rules for its era

1. The Hobbit - Super deep with some very satisfying modes and incredible wizard modes.
2. Houdini - I realize that this is not everyone’s favorite game, but the code is stellar.
3. Lord of the Rings
4. Batman 66
5. Alice Cooper’s Nightmare Castle

Honorable mentions to The Walking Dead, Dialed In, and for a 1990s game Indiana Jones The Pinball Adventure.

Didn't see AFM listed, I think it's perfect.

I really like game of thrones code. Although I guess it can’t be greatest as there are still a few bugs to work out, but the premise is outstanding.

5 Simpsons Pinball Party.

WPT has some awesome code for the money.

Of all the titles I've owned, LOTR is probably number one in terms of code and integration. It's code appeals to all ability levels, and it's presented in a way that makes the game feel truly immersive.

While I've owned other games that I've preferred over LOTR (TZ and Met come to mind immediately), from a coding standpoint, LOTR was the King.

I know it's not deep, but I really enjoy the code on Fish Tales. Completing the stringer to light Monster Fish is my favorite hurry-up in pinball, plus Rock the Boat and Feeding Frenzy are both fun modes. The tournament multiballs could have been coded with some variety, but I enjoy them for what they are. Other then that the only minor change I'd make is Stretch the Truth. Instead of it being random, I'd base the multiplier on the number of spinner spins in the time period. In general, I prefer well integrated code over deep code.

TWD, AFM, and MET all have perfect code for their respective games imo. Scoring is well balanced in all of them. Progression during each of them is well placed and rewarding.

My runners up are HS2 and BSD. They both have amazing code for what they are. They just aren’t deep enough to be on the same level as those games.

AC/DC. Just a Lyman masterpiece.
