This brings back memories of when I was a kid. We had a neighbor 3 or 4 houses down. He looked EXACTLY like King Vitaman. So, of course, we called him King Vitaman. To this day, I never knew him as anything but King Vitaman. So one day, the guy decides to clock in for the eternal shift at the harp factory and when I got home from school all the ambulances were there (too late) and the coroner. So me & my sister ran to our home to tell my mother "MOM!!! KING VITAMAN IS DEAD!!" My poor mom, she had no clue as to what we were screaming about. Weird how I haven't thought of this memory for 40+++ years!

I know I mentioned Quisp earlier, but when I was really young, this was my dad's favorite cereal. we used to share late night snacks sometimes. So, we would both have this cereal. It was really tasty. It sucked when they discontinued it only a few years after it was introduced.

We took the free tour Kellogg's used to have at their Battle Creek plant & headquarters. My dad even asked at the Q &A what the hell happened to this cereal. The tour guide/talking head made reference to low demand cereals are pulled from the market.

I certainly remember this commercial and all the words to the song:

I remember eating tons of Captain Crunch in college. Went away from it for 20 years. Was feeling nostalgic a couple weeks back. Bought a box. Ate it in a couple days.

Still, did not hold up to my memory. Guess I am a HONEY NUT CHEERIOS guy now a days.

    That may just translate into.....Old.

    Quoted from pezpunk:

ah, i remember ghostbusters! also cereals themed for Donkey Kong, Nerds (the candy), Mario/Link, and Mr. T.
the Nerds cereal was cool because one side the box dispensed strawberry cereal and the other side dispensed grape, just like the nerds candy boxes of the day. the Mario / Link cereal was the same deal.

    comestibles2.jpg
    absolutely terrible cereals, though. haha.

Of all the junk my mom let me eat, somehow the line was drawn at Nerds cereal. "Sure honey, you can eat cookie cereal, ice cream cereal, cereal made by dog food companies, but no, you won't be eating candy cereal". I just ate Nerds at my friend's house though, and it ruled.

You can buy entire bags of bulk Lucky Charms marshmallows.

I'm really surprised that with all of the "throw-back" versions of pepsi, mountain dew and retro packaging for cereal, that the cereal companies haven't thought about running a few promotions where the toys are the exact same as those that we got in the boxes from the late 60's, early 70's

    #124 7 years ago

What no mention of cap'n crunch berries . Still tore up the top of your mouth.

    #125 7 years ago

I remember eating these! I also like the retro Doritos.

Why is it that everything seemed so awesome in the mid to late 70's and 80's? I kinda feel bad for my kid because the decades don't really have a "feel" anymore....the years just run together now. The last decade that had a feel for me was the 90's. Anyway, sorry to ramble. Did anyone ever sucker their parents into buying the cereal just for the prize? I don't remember being able to do this often but it did happen on occasion...haha.

I've always found these to be strangely compelling ...

    What kind of milk?

I only mess with Skim. Anything else feels like im eating cream.

    #130 7 years ago

2% Baby! But I grew up working on a Dairy Farm, where we got the milk right from the holding tank! Mmmm, cream!

+1 on Quisp and Freakies. I can actually still remember a good portion of the Freakies jingle.

I would love to try Donkey Kong Jr.

    #138 7 years ago

I remember liking Moonstones cereal as a kid. I don't remember much about it except liking it. I also remember eating the Donkey Kong Junior cereal and liking it. Now that I see both boxes....I'm pretty sure they were probably the same thing.

As of now....my cereal choice is Fuity Dyno-Bites.

every halloween, target has been bringing back the general mills monster cereals. a couple of years ago, they brought back all 5 with the original packaging so I picked up a set for nostalgia's sake

    IMG_1023[1].JPG

unfortunately, not a prize inside to be found

    #142 7 years ago

I have yet to come across Fruity Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute. Those two are difficult to find today. Of the monster cereals I have tried, Frankenberry is my #1.

    #143 7 years ago

This stuff was great, but it didn't last long at all on the market. They looked like Frosted Mini-Wheats, but tasted much better. I wish Kellogg's would bring them back.
