I looked for an answer before posting, but didn't see one.

Its time to clean the grime off my 1957 Hi-Hand, so I can put the newly polished metal pieces back on it.

I tested scrubbing with water in an inconspicuous spot --a different cabinet of the same machine-- with no problems, so a water based cleaner ought to be ok.

What's the best cleaner to use?

Mean Green. Spritz on. Sit 3-4 minutes. Wipe off. Don't leave on too long, it will soften the paint.

I use Krud Kutter in the same method mentioned above.

I started a Crazy Clean thread this summer with some examples of cabinet being cleaned. A few other applications too.

Krud kutter works great doesn’t remove paint

The description of it at Home Depot says it removes dried latex paint. Is that the one you mean or is there another one?

Thanks. Good info.

Used mean green. The cabinet must be a shade lighter, because the rag was colored, but it looks much better. Only left it on for a minute each time.

Bonus Points! I found the serial number stamped on the cabinet under the grime.
