Get those opinions ready... Which pin in the PINBOT series is your favorite and what would you pay for one? I'll go first:

FUN factor:

1. Bride
2. Jackbot
3. Pinbot

I know that the Bride of Pinbot is a left-ramp-wonder, but that music and sound doesn't get old for me. Jackbot takes Pinbot for the extra modes and the DMD. However, Pinbot is a classic.

What I would pay:

Pinbot $1k
Bride $1.5k
Jackbot $1.5k

What prices are you seeing out there? Which one(s) do you have? Wanna defend or trash my thoughts? Fire away!

FUN Factor: JB > PB > > > > > BoP

Jack*Bot and Pinbot have the same playfield and are challenging and fun. The are both good multi-player machines and are good for tournaments too. JB offers deeper rules and Casino Run is a lot of fun. Pinbot is a close second, again, with the same playfield. I think BoP basically sucks as the only thing worth shooting for is the ramp. Over and over and over again. Very good art, sound, lighting and really fun for about a week. Then it becomes one of the most over-rated games ever, second perhaps only to ToM.

I've had two out of the three and will say that Bride was my favorite by far.
As DrJoe said, JB is definitely deeper rules. If you enjoy rulesets, or gotta have a DMD, it's the one for you. That said, neither one did it for me, and JB lasted maybe 2 months.
BoP is totally different than the other Bots. It's a great theme and a lot of run. Some may call it a left ramp wonder, but it's a great game and with a nicely done playfield can be fast fast fast. I love the rotating head, the callouts are great...just a game that never gets old!
Pinbot I don't own, but I've played. It's a fun game. It's not deep but it's more challenging than you'd suspect.
Bride than PB then JB for me!

Price-wise..always tough depending on condition. I see pinbots anywhere from $500 for a roached one to $1500 for a gorgeous one.
Jackbots seem to hover around $1750
Brides are all over the place, but can fetch anywhere from 1500-3k

BOP is my favorite. Tho all 3 are enjoyable

#5 11 years ago

Jackbot, hands down! Watch the NW Champs video to find more out about it!

#6 11 years ago

BOP for me, which is fitting, because it's the one I have. I'd pay $500-800 for a Pinbot; it may be worth more, but not for me. For JB, if I was going to spend $1700-1900, I'd buy something else.

Tough call, they call have +'s and -'s.

BOP gets called out for being a left ramp wonder, but the truth is, there are more shots on BOP than the others. It's not a machine for competition but it's great if you want to practice shots and get good at pinball. Lots of ramps, loops and things to try to hit.

The ruleset is pretty simplistic on all three, a bit deeper on JB.

Theme, BOP wins. It has a rotating head, how cool is that? Music is better, call outs are better. Though Pinbot has some cool music and sound files as well - i get nostalgic when i hear it.

BOP by far, but I can have some seriously too long games on it. I try to take breaks from playing it so I don't get tired of it, but I do love it. I'm hoping the DMD conversion and added ruleset follows through for it eventually. I'd love to spice it up some. I've hit the billion shot multiple times in one game before, but I'm looking forward to seeing what else can be added to the game.

I like Jackbot the most out of the 3. But not enough to add to my collection. I like the BOP light show and voice is awesome. Pinbot is still fun to play but seems dated compared to the other 2 machines.

Jackbot....currently my favorite game

#12 11 years ago

Bride is the best, still love it after all these years!

I am amazed at how well it translated to Pinball Arcade.

Wish I owned one.

#13 11 years ago

I have owned all of them and there all good but I would say jackbot. A good buy for under 2k. If you can find one nowadays.

#14 11 years ago

BoP is a clear winner for me, although I had a Jackbot for a while and really enjoyed it.

#15 11 years ago

Lots of people love Jackbot, really can't stand the casino theme plus for me it didn't have the charm that the original Pin*Bot had. Personally I would skip the DMD on Jackbot and go with the original Pin*Bot.

Another vote for Bride; played one over at Doot's back in November and just had to have one. Whole package of audio, theme, art, gameplay (changing the Bride from robot to human) won me over. Just got mine on Saturday!

Haven't played Jackbot but played Pinbot at Expo and thought it was pretty fun.

+1.

Pinbot is the classic with great sound and light show. Bride is neat but boring. Jackbot is derivative and not as cool as the original.

It has been mine as well especially since watching the NW Champs video, Bowen really gives a lot of insight to the rules and ideas for new strategies.

In the video of the tournament, two players get very high scores on the first ball (6 billion) using different strategies.

Pinbot would be my pick.

#21 11 years ago

Pin Bot, 'Now I See You', a well packaged game. The first one of the group.

#22 11 years ago

The original will always be my favorite. Pin*Bot is an absolute classic that helped launch the golden age of modern pinball.

"My God........she's alive"

"Hee hee"

#24 11 years ago

Pin-Bot for all the reasons previously stated, but mostly cause I own one and am trying to artificially increase it's value.

I enjoy this series so much, that I have a HEP BOP and a HEP JB. I have played a Pinbot and could not bring myself to buy one. It is just too dated and rough for me. The BOP is my favorite pin. It is just fun, fast , and classy. The shots feel very smooth and give great satisfaction. The music and sound effects are amazing and the interaction of the voice is great. Just my .02, but if aftermarket playfields were available, this pin would sky rocket. Now that the faces of the head and the ramps are readily available, it has the potential to be a restorers dream. It is just missing the remake of the Playfield. Anyone who owns a BOP should hang on to it. It will be a good one to have in a few years. I have four of them

BOP!

I've played a routed Jackbot and loved it.
The bride looks way hotter on this pin than the other 2 as well.

BOP.. couldn't get rid of it fast enough.. sweet theme.. just not enough game in it for me, know what I mean?

Your Pinbot is beautiful! Wish I could find one like that even if it cost more than normal pricing. Thanks for showing it to me.

I've only played Bop (I've one) so i can't rate the others

I'll answer Bop...

BOP for me all the way, it was my first game so there's probably a little sentimental feelings there. I had originally wanted to get all three but after having Pinbot for awhile found it didn't do to much for me. So I restored it and sold it to Gweem who I know really loved the game.

Of the three games in this series I'd rate them:

1) Pinbot
2) Jack*bot
3) Just about any other pinball game
4) Bride of Pinbot

The reason I'm putting the first Pinbot game in the lead has to do with the "limited" ruleset that makes the entire layout work. Both Pinbot and Jack*bot suffer from a bad case of right-flipper-itis. There really is only one shot from the left flipper and that's to the advance planet standup (and it's a death shot!). Pinbot's scoring system is better balanced than Jack*bot's. The gameplay puts real value on the skillshot, where as in Jack*bot, it's not worth that much. On the other hand, Jack*bot's gambling theme is realized incredibly well. Now there are players that LOVE the wizard mode and while I think it's well done, reaching your wizard mode in less than less than 10 shots, does not endear it to me.

Bride of pinbot is a 1 shot wonder and that's a damn shame. It could of and should have been more of a game. I'd love to see what the Dutch are doing with this table. I am very excited at the prospect of an improved ruleset, but even then... we shall have to see what they come up with in good time.
