In this topic: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/your-top-9-2500-dmds
we worked together to put together a top-27 of 90’s DMDs in excellent condition in the same price range ($2200-$2800). It’s not a perfect list, but the discussion helped form a bit of agreement that led to a decent list of 27.

Round 1: This select group of 27 faced off into 3 groups, and the WINNER from each group made it to the final round.
Round 2: The remaining 18 faced off, and we have 3 new WINNERS. It's now up to you to choose the final THREE in Round 3:

CURRENT FINALISTS: (you won't re-vote for them in this round)
(Round 1): FT, BSD, HS2
(Round 2): JM, JD, WCS
KNOCKED OUT:
(Round 1): MSF, STT, LW3, RRWWF, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Baywatch,
(Round 2): DH, LAH, Tommy, NBA Fastbreak, The Flintstones, Stargate

We now have 9 middle-contenders fighting for 3 remaining spots . This should be the most grueling contest yet...

ROUND-3

Black Rose
Demolition Man
Doctor Who
Indy500
Jack*Bot
Jurassic Park
No Fear
Tales From the Crypt
Terminator 2

If TFTC was a B/W this would be a landslide

How so?

Art is the best of any 90's pin, but suffers from im not a B/W pin

#5 8 years ago

I'll trade my BSD back for a TFTC anyday, any takers?

#6 8 years ago

I am surprised that I keep voting for No Fear in these later rounds. I guess I should probably just keep it instead of trying to trade it. Except for WCS, the top 6 seem like all good choices to me. To be fair, I have not played WCS, so I am just judging on theme.

No, just no.

Thank you for the round 3 votes...
We run round three, until pins #4 through #9 look tired and weary and not likely to catch up to pin #3.

Only three pins can exit ALIVE...

It's a fun game for sure, but the laughter is a bit much and some of the geometry feels "off" to me.

Baywatch is fantastic, though; the Sega name and license really hold that one back

Agree. I wish i'd picked one up a few years back when they were priced cheaper. People are waking up to how good of an over all package it is.

I love a good race.
WAYYY too early to call.
Definitely need to let this simmer a few days if not longer.

Somehow I missed round 2.

#16 8 years ago

Dear MOF,

I voted for 1500, but it is not doing well in the poll. Should I vote again or try phone canvassing to educate the masses?

Intrigued in Indianapolis.

as did I. I figured each round would run a week or so.

why the rush MOF?

These are times when I wish we could have more flexibility in poll creation. For example, instead of picking 1, picking your top 3 in order with different point values for each place? It'd be really interesting to me how the results would differ.

Indy 500 is a $3k plus game.

#20 8 years ago

Round 3 may run for weeks or MONTHS the way it's shaping up.

Might be a good thing. Perception of JP and TFTC might change soon.

Let's get to the bottom of this.

Really thought this well intentioned thread would denigrate
into a pricing debate.
You have to buy an unattractive lower quality game to get
sub $2500: fishtales, BSD, Judge Dread, Dr whoooo ? ? ?

Either that or you guys are holding out on me.
Sell me your sweet DMD's cheap!

#25 8 years ago

I've seen all of these games priced in the $2500 range except Black Rose but that's because I don't remember seeing a Black Rose for sale. You should have just called this mid-priced pins instead of a specific number to avoid debate.

No Fear is a lot of fun. My best friend just picked one up a few weeks back, and it plays fast. It reminds me of T2 on steroids. Great pin!

#27 8 years ago

well this poll is interesting. would have like to seen some criteria. like overall fun, positioning/variation/difficulty of shots, artwork, and sound. Maybe single person play vs 2 player

still very interesting seeing the results. I personally think FT is a beautiful game but super boring.

keep the post going

#28 8 years ago

OK.

Given what I've learned about Indy500 -- there's only one way to go forward. Scrape and Sift. Only this time, it's all sift.

I'm going to start a round-3b without Indy500, and I'm going to make use of where we are at at 150 votes (like the last 3 contest stop points) -- and sift out the bottom two.

We'll re-roll what will likely be the tightest round ever. Best 3 of 6.

I saw one it was around $3500. Once again when I find a pin I like it turns out to be more than I thought.

Hmmmm... might need to redo this poll in a month or so?
